I was looking for opinions on making my XJ a little more highway friendly. It's a trail rig, but I have to drive it on mountain highways/roads to reach the trails.
Currently running 6" of lift with 33" Swamper radials, Rusty's coils with generic shocks, heavy winch and bumper, quick disco front, swaybar removed in the rear. Currently with my high COG I have a little more body roll on the highway than I would like (the Swampers don't help, but there new, so replacing those is more than I want to spend).
Perhaps if I got a good set of adjustable shocks that I could stiffen up for the pavement, then soften up for the dirt???
Or, would it be better to replace the soft Rusty's springs with a stiffer spring??
Or, replace both the springs and shocks to firm up the suspension?
I'm really happy with my suspensions flex off road, but the poor handling to get to the dirt is becoming nerve racking. I realize there is a compromise with big lifts, but theres got to be a happy median. I'm hoping that replacing the generic shocks with some good quality adjustables will improve handling on the road and keep my flex where its at on the trail. Just searching for opinions to get a better knowledge before I waste money on things that might not need replaced. Thanks
