Removing Pinstripes

Does anyone know if the fender pinstripes on a 97 are painted on or a sticker under a thin clear coat? What is the best method for removal?

No they are just stickers, use a blow dryer and pick them off!

I've removed them from quite a few vehicles. I found it best to get a plastic scraper and heat them up just a little bit and use elbow grease to get them off. You dont want to mess your paint up, using some rubbing compound will also help get the residue off the vehicle, or goo gone.

I work in a garage and the boss man does a little body work on the side. He uses a little gadget called a magic eraser. It's like a little rubber wheel that you can chuck up in a drill and it takes stickers right off without messing up the paint. He gets them at the local parts store.

I used the eraser wheel like Droopy mentioned above. Worked well, was quick and easy. Your larger parts stores usually have them in the body section.

I used a dremel wheel and a rubbing compound and got it off nicely, luckily I was just doing one fender.

Be careful with the rubber wheel... Works great on factory paint, but on some softer types (laquers, enamels) it can eat into the finish. More so if it's fresh paint.
