What about an XJ Whellie Cherokee? Mount the engine in the back 2WD tranny and a reversed mounted divorced T/C. What you think? Would it do wheelies?

Well I was thinking of putting a fuel cell in the front and leaveing the radiator up there too. LOL! :)

In High School, I treasured a HotRod mag teaser ad/thingy (slick faux cover & centerfold- no mag inside) from back in the day that profiled two cars...

One was a traditional Yellow Willy's coupe: twin-turbo Poncho 455/T400/9". Totally Pro Street before that was a phrase...

The other was a Red 23 "T" pickmup that had a 8V71-2x4v 454/T425(?) Eldo-Toro transaxle in the back, boat-type open headers poking over the tailgate... It had a little mural of it launching on there that said "If ya see me gettin smaller, I'm Leavin"

Thanks for reminding me of early 80s HS age fantasy :) but back to semi-reality...

I Think an MJ would suit the mid-engine/RWD bill better than an XJ, but anything is possible with resources and a mission.

Remember the old Chevy/Ford mid engine vans? or the Willys FC? Building and dialing in long manual trans shift linkages will make timid men rather steal bear cubs from momma...

LOL true very true! But if it were a 4.0 MJ with the 4.0 in the bed and the AW-4 what linkages woudl you need. Lock it in 1-2 and hammer down! LOL! You are welcome for the memories. I have lots of crazy dreams in my head! LOL!

Forget the 4.0L ...put a 70 Caddy 500 Eldo running gear in it with some wheelie bars & steer between upshifts.

Woody I think we sould build one and tour the dragstrips. And build a XJ dragster with a built 4.0 too. You ar the pres make it happen! LOL!

Haha, well if we're throwin it in the back, weight and size are'nt a problem, any more, so yay!, Im finnaly gettin the 5.9L in an XJ i've always dreamed of!

Ever thought of using a FWD transverse setup in the rear? Those should be plentiful. Take your pick. Want a Northstar? How 'bout a B18C?:D There'd be lots of room for everything with the truck bed removed. You could also get away with a much smaller engine because of how light and efficient everthing is.

While a Honda motor would be funny (admit it), a turbo Neon engine would keep it "all in the family". The small engine would also keep the truck from becoming undriveable (but I guess a wheelstander is what you asked for). So with the SRT-4 engine and a Mopar upgrade, you'd have at least 300hp. That's pretty good for any MJ, let alone a light one that can handle. The SRT-4 engine also puts the turbo at the back. There's no need for a custom exhaust, just bolt your license plate right next to the turbo. That way people will be looking at it when you shoot fireballs:D

Now that is an intresting idea.

I'm full of it...I mean full of them.:) ...if I only had the money to pull stuff like this off...I'd have my own Monster Garage show on TV.
