So, I just drive 45 min, 65-70 mph down the interstate, few vibes, nothing major. Sounds much better with the chassis stiffies installed. I'm sitting at the light, getting off the interstate, 2 blocks from my house. I start to pullout...bang rattle rattle...What the **ck just happened to my locker....kaboom....there goes my rear tire...WHAT??

notice the scrape leading up to the brake drum....

The wife was taking pics while I was figuring how to get it off the ground high enough to get the **mn tire back on! The floor jack I had would not fit under the diff with the drum sitting on the ground...would up putting the rear spring down on the tire, moving the jack to under the diff....and jacking back up. We were really lucky. This could have caused a great deal more problems than it did! Don't know what happened. The stud threads look pretty boogered up. One looks like it's still got part of a lug nut stuck in the threads, I actually found 3 nuts in the garage, but would not fit on all the studs...won't have time to look at it until this weekend.....:scared::looser:

You just want to be like the cool kids, loosing wheels... Thats amazing that it didnt come off on the highway. With the rotation of the tire it should be tightening those lugs. Glad you made it home safe and the XJ is alright. Id hate to see you total out XJ #2! I wonder if your buddy who welded on those sliders took that wheel off then forgot to torque those lugs on before you left. I can see him putting on that 35 and finger tightening the lugs and forgetting to sinch them down.

Yeah, mine was better...

P.S. Bout time you got those sliders off the garage floor and onto the jeep!

First of all...I didn't total the first jeep...that was a tree in my backyard:twak:
Second of all...the sliders were leaning up against the wall in the garage...and it's only been maybe 9 months since they've been painted...:dunno:

Dang!!!

Glad nothing majorly bad happened... I'm gonna have to agree, and say someone forgot to tighten the lugs :dunno:

What is it with you Bama boys tearing up your Jeeps on the roads? First and oil plug now a wheel/tire?????:roflmao:

Aaron, at least when you break, it's on a trail!!!

Yikes! What shape is the drum in? How about the brakes?

Glad nobody got hurt and the Jeep isn't severely damaged.

Sounds like a sign that you need to convert to discs! :D Glad nothing else was damaged.

Yeh, I just did that to keep redneck entertained...party1: It was pretty freaky, and very well timed. I'd hate to see what would have went down if that 35" tire let go on the freeway....or bounced over to the opposite side of the freeway:scared: That could have gotten really ugly.
Hey, we're going to a wedding Saturday also....you know Justin too??:dunno:

The brakes are actually new along with the wheel cylinder. I think the drum is ok, but I won't get time to take a good look at it all until this weekend. I'm more worried about the studs....they look a little boogered up, and one looks like it still has some of the lug nut on the last couple threads....

studs are easy to replace ive got one thats all buggered up thanks to a local tire shop tht i gotta replace this weekend
