Red Rocket

Well I didn't get too much done today. I got both of the new bumper mounts done, and then did some surgery on the bumper.

And then when I was driving around this evening a buddy of mine discovered this

So I'm gonna have to weld that shock tab back up before this weekend

Lol that sucks! Bar pin rot out? Looks like the whole mount is a little rusty....

Bumper work looks like fun! I'm dreading my front bumper because I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be doing some 'frame repair'....

Haha I should be doing some frame repair in the back. But I think with how I'm gonna do the mounts it'll be okay.

What is it with you and shock mounts exactly?

Thanks man. I got a fair amount done today but I just didn't take any pictures. The bumper is 95% done. I just gotta make a swing out stop for the swing arm so I quit denting my rear quarter panel with the tire. And then bumper is ready to go on. Got the mounts triple pass welded on today. Mounts are 1/4" 2x4 with 4 1/2-13 mounting bolts underneath and 1/4" plates for bolt to the stock locations. The bumper is 3/16, and the swing arm is 1/8". I think it should hold up to a few hits ;)

Got some more done today

Drilled a hole and tapped it

Made a stop for my tire so it quits hitting my rear quarter panel

That's where it stops now

Mocked up a trailer hitch extension so I can still use this rack

Jeeps working and looking great Brandon, keep dialing it in.

Thanks Dustin! The nail salon was a major influence on how I built this one, and so far it's all paying off! Thanks coming out for the day!

I've been slackin lately, but I have a list of things I want to get done to the jeep before trophy challenge, and also some stuff I want to do regardless.

Here's both lists put together:

- clock t case (halfway through)

- install new boostworks tcase shift linkage (in the mail)

- t case flat belly skid (would need metal ~$30?)

- instal new lca brackets (already have 1/4" ruffstuff brackets)

- wire rear rock lights/get some for the front

- tune up (already have parts, plan on doing it in next few days)

- build winch bumper (~$70 material?)

- buy new compact catalytic converter (to tuck up inside 'frame rail') and build rear exhaust hanger

- modify/instal co2 tank bracket

- build auxiliary jerry can holder

- install brown dog motor mounts

I'm halfway through clocking my tcase, and the new linkage is in the mail. After I get that back together I'd like to put a new catalytic converter on and finish mounting the exhaust, but I'd have to buy a new cat in the next few days. Then I plan on cutting off the stock lca mounts and putting on the new ones, with mini skids. Following that it'll probably be a winch bumper. Next would be modifying/installing co2 tank bracket. Lastly would be the tcase skid, and motor mounts, and all the other little things.

A couple of cats I've been looking at are

1) Flowmaster 2220124 222 Series 2.25" Inlet/Outlet Universal Catalytic Converter - $56
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0085UDTO6/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1407414218&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40

2) 2.25" Heavy Loaded Catalytic Converter O2 OBDII 608395 (same one nw99xj has) - $65
http://performance-curve.com/2goerlichcatalyticconverterobdii608214-1-2.aspx

3) 2.25" Goerlich Catalytic Converter 602545 - $45
http://performance-curve.com/225goerlichcatalyticconverter602545.aspx

You guys got any input/advice on which one to get? I'm leaning towards the flow master cause it's on amazon and I just so happen to have a gift card :D

Also I was looking at these lights, you approve?

Installed the boostwerks transfer case shift linkage today. I gotta give props to boostwerks for making an awesome product and shipping so fast!

Install is pretty easy. Just take out/off your old 'Z linkage' that is factory
y3usyvut.jpg

I had my transfer case out already, but if you don't you will have to undo the two nuts that hold on that metal plate. Then on the cab sheet metal there are two 10mm screws that
Hold that bushing in. And one more little bolt on the outside of the transmission adapter.

On the transfer case itself there is a 9/16 nut that holds on the tab. Undo that and instal the new tab.

Then with the cross member back on and everything siting where it would be normally just bolt on the new linkage! I had to adjust mine a tad but. But it's soooo easy!

All done! Thanks Joe for showing me this awesome product!
