Deciding what to do on mine as well. Moves VERY slowly, sometimes not at all. What I've read is that the gears get all gummed up and the shaft gets a little rusty. Not the weather now here in Chicago to try, but I'm thinking of taking it off and opening it up if that's possible. Problem is there is a $20 core on it, so I don't want to screw it up.
