Rear main seal

How do you replace the rear main seal on my 94 zj that has a 5.2 L V8? Do I have to to pull the transmission or drop the pan w/o pulling the tranny?

it has a 2 piece rear main... drop the pan and the rear bearing cap and tap out the old one.
