On the project Heep we installed the disc brake conversion on the rear Dana 44 from a Scout II. When we slid the shafts in the housing they went in fine and we bolted them up (4 bolts that hold em in). We put the disc brakes on and lowered the Jeep back down and the axle shaft itself actually has a bit of up and down play after its bolted in. So when the axle housing lowers the disc and shafts actually go up a hair and it pushes the disc into the upper caliper bolt a little. Why is there a bit of play in the shaft ? Is it supposed to do this?
