Re-tubing a D44?

Was planning to use a D44 I have from a prior project (S10 4WD) to put under the back of my 95 XJ, but it is too short. Talking with Moser, they won't retube. Cited the reason as "stretching" the center section. Is this a valid reason, or could it just be one of those "liability" issues? And, are there any recommendations out there of a shop that will re-tube as I hate to just throw away a housing that I already have set up with gears and diff?

WMS in Oklahoma will re-tube for you.

There are some issues with stretching the housing ifyou re-tube mutiple times, but it should be fine if the shop knows what they are doing. They really need to turn down the raw tube on a lathe to get a precise press fit into the housing, then straighten everything on a jig, and weld it all up.
