Hi Folks,
Get out your chain saws/work gloves/pruners... its time to build your new favorite trail!!!

As a few of you may know, many clubs help out at RC with trail cutting/clean up type of activities throughout the year. They always need help cutting new trails, and/or cleaning up some of the existing ones. The NAC has done this in the past with both RC and Paragon, but it has been a few years since the last time we did it, so its time again. I have been talking to them for a few months now to set this up, and we settled on a date today.

The date is Saturday November 21st!!!

Here is how this works---
Basically, we meet up at Rausch by 8:00am, catch up with our RC contact (in this case it will be Tommy) and get headed into where we are going to cut the trail by NO LATER THAN 8:45am.

We'll spend all morning working on cutting a new trail, up until lunch time, then we have a free afternoon of wheeling. So 50% of the day working, and 50% of the day playing.

I don't know what level of trail we will cut or where yet, if I find that out I will pass it along.

So please bring along things like work gloves, chain saws (we won't need EVERYONE to bring a chain saw, but it would be good to have 4 or 5 in the group just in case), pruning shears, tree saws,... basically anything you would use in your yard to maintain your trees/shrubs could be helpful. Even a cordless Sawzall would be good. If you have extras, I am sure a few folks won't have something so bring it along too. Just make sure you get it back by the end of the day.

So who wants to cut a new trail... then be the first to run it once its done??

Thanks folks... See you on the trails!!

:roflmao:

wait. you weren't joking? :anon::eyes:

:D

Wish I was closer, sounds like a good time :) good luck and be sure to document the day!! FWIW, I'll vote for a red/black trail :D

MAN! You guys are so lucky being so close to Rausch...

If I don't make it for the weekend after all-you-can-carry day, I'll try to make it for this one.

and I'll bring my crappy little chainsaw... should have listened to everyone in NAC-NE when they said to get a Stihl, but I was too broke at the time :( Once I get the darn thing started, it does ok.

ohhhhhhh I am in this is gonna be fun. I love being so close to rausch!

i wanna go

is there an age requirement... im old enough-ish, and even if they would prefer i just pick up the timber thats ok by me

what color trail we blazing here andy, i aint black or red rated just yet

I'm in... I have access to a nice stihl... Andy. Let me know if I should bring the chainsaw, I have the other stuff.

I was actually asking myself this after Roctoberfest... I wanted to get involved with one of these. Pretty cool.

I could perhaps fire up the saw for this, will watch the thread as details keep coming.

I dont see why thered be an age requirement. And as for the red black, you know Andy... He'll get that jeep though :) with minor shredding of the jeep.

LOL... not really.. this is Pa... where you don't receive your man-card if there isn't picture-proof or video proof of you pretending to act out the Texas Chain Saw Massacre in your back yard (take the blade off... run around in circles pretending to cut people/things while revving the saw):D:D

I know this crew well down here... when I wrote that I was actually picturing 15 of us standing in a line revving our chain saws with our teeth clenched and wild looks in our eyes....

:eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes:

and not a single hand-pruner among us (Notice I am saying "US"... :wave1:)

No pruner here! That's what the machete is for. And on a serious note I will see if we can pencil this in.

:greensmokI think you can count me in..let me check with the wife to see if she has me doing anything that day... Trying to enlist others as well..I do have a chain saw so I'll be with saw in hand..watch out everyone..BZZZZZZZ

X2 on what code said...is there an age limit? Like for legal reasons or anything (i dont see why there would be, just checking). If I have a job by then I may be able to go. If there is snow will this still be happening?

Andy do you need a head count, we have a few Fiend Club guys that will be up for this.

...Maybe check in the JFC board.

I'll visit over there, but if you could either have them drop a note in this thread or get a head count once it gets closer and post it up, that would be good. Having one place to get a head count will simplify things for me.

No, no age limit. If you can't take your Jeep, just ride shotty with someone. You may not be able to wheel that day, but you'll at least be able to help out with the trail cutting and watch others beat up their stuff.

count me in

 Thanks guys for setting this up.

All the trailheads are accessible from stock trails, so you don't need a built rig to come out and help.

Nov. 21st is also the premiere showing of the RCrocs 09 season DVD, with action from the rockcrawling and the race series. They're showing it at the theatre in Pine Grove. here's the link about that.

SO how does the Trail building take place, who decides where the new trail should be.

Reason I ask, I was looking at the map... 23 has some blank space around it, Even a shortcut through the "U" of 23 seems like a good area with alot of variety of terrain.

All the guys I've wheeled with on 23 Love that trail. Good stuff.

I should be in attendance for this as long as schoolwork doesn't get too backed up on me.

What size saw should I bring the 42" Husky or the 60" Stihl:spin1:.

Gotta love a chainsaw that's taller than you when you're 6'3 with your work boots on. The Stihl beats the hell out of you though, 8.6 horsepower hand held tree cutting beast, MS880 Stihl's big boy!

I would love to make it but don't think I'll be around.

Ill take you under my wing & try not to cut off your goatee with my chainsaw...fiend 2 fiend.
