been doing some research and making plans for full widths and tires. Curious if somebody with bias tires might tell me HOW bad they are on the road. I have chosen pitbull rockers, probably 37s so if somebody knows how they ride on an xj that would be awesome. My jeep is DD for now, but doesn't have to be when I go bigger, however I don't have a tow rig and I'm not blessed with a home in the woods so I need to be able to drive to the trail, which usually requires some 55+ mph highway driving. I DO NOT care about road noise, thats why I have a stereo. So all I really care about is getting a feel for how shitty they ride on the street. thanks guys!

Re: radial vs. bias

I had bias 35's (not Pit Bulls though) on my 82 Toyota truck. They wear quicker and if the tire is cold you will have flat spots on the tires till they warm up, a little bumpy ride for about 2 minutes. Other than that, they rode ok as it was my DD too. Yup they were loud and they liked to follow the grooves in the road.

Re: radial vs. bias

thanks for the info. I am also hearing that you can wheel a bias at a much lower tire pressure without bead locks is this true?

Re: radial vs. bias

Because of the construction of the tire, it forms around obstacles (rocks, trees, etc.) better than radials at the same amount of pressure. Anything under 15 psi and I would run bead locks on bias or radial. I don't run 44's and have 900 hp though.

really??? lolololol...... I run between 8-10 psi all day long with no issues and no beadlocks... I ran a set of 34/10.5/15s LTBs at 5-6psi and only lost a bead once I justify that one to being in FWD though(broek rear driveshaft)

Re: radial vs. bias

I dd'd Swamper TSL SS's in the 34x9.5 bias flavor for a bit.

they suck in the morning, or if it's cold an they've been sitting for more than 2 hours. Big nasty flat spots that literally would make the Jeep bounce up and down.

after about 5 miles they're fine, other than they had lugs the size of my fist that slapped on the pavement.
I had no problems with Bias tires and liked them.
