RADesign's Epic Run Lottery - Enter Now!

That is a pretty freakin sweet picture. Where was it at?

I don't care what you drive that picture of my rig on the snow drift is awesome. I been wheelin' for near about 30yrs now and I can't wait to hang out with you kids on the Run.

I look forward to hangin with you again. Ill have the coffee ready in the morning just like last time. My brother and brother-in-law are coming as well.

Wish I would have known bout this earlier. I want to go lol

Simple question, how many miles of what kind of terrain? I'm considering a second fuel tank instead of bringing two extra fuel cans. We did 80mi this spring 40 of which was snow and I used about 16gal of gas, but that was 5 hours of honest snow punching me breaking trail most of the time. So how much gas do I need?

Unless you are running a big block or some other fuel eating pig, stock tank should be fine if you top it off before we leave.

Crap. I just remembered to get over here. Torx is there no chance for a late entry?? If not its cool. maybe I'll follow.

I will have two cans with me just in case. IIRC I still had a 1/4 tank left after the run we had 3 years ago that didn't have us back until after the raffle on Saturday. Wed did 8am to 9:30pm on that run.

Darn, didn't pay much attention to NAXJA and missed the raffle...been busy with school.

Welp looks like you guys won't have to drag me around this year! hah I'll try and run similar trails behind you guys with some other rigs I guess.

FYI, check out the trail schedule posted in this forum.. There's a Hard Run planned for Friday and Saturday. The one on Saturday will cover a lot of ground, and trace a good part of the Epic route.

We do still need leaders for those runs!

There's still a lot of snow in the hills (note to self, pack snow shovel), so I'll be curious to see how much progress we can make on this run. We might be modifying the route as we go.

We went up tampico (ahtanum state forest) and there was still about 4 feet of snow in some spots up about 5600 feet. Granted that is the adjacent side of the valley on the other side of divide ridge. We are going to try and run up the 17th or 18th to do some scouting for nwfest and give a snow report.

Snow, you ain't afraid of a little snow are you? My IROK'S love snow.

lol I was thinking that too. I have come to love the snow alot more this year. I will say the snow REALLY sucks right now over here though. Its just the right temp that it gets slushy and heavy. You try to pave yourself a little runway when you need to get some speed and instead it becomes a hard sheet of ice.

I consider myself a pretty experienced snow wheeler and in my experience the snow this time of year (if there is a significant amount) in this area is NOT passable in the way in which we should be treating our trails.

There are plenty of alternative routs that we can make work if necessary. It won't be the first time we have had to make some changes to the route to try to make this run work.

To be fair you rig rig weighed 10 tons plus another jeeps worth in spare parts.

That's why your going to be near the front of the line. :D

X2. I love snow wheeling, and playing on the line of impassable and passable. However, if we can avoid the snowed in trails we will since time is of the essence on this run. Get a group going for Saturday to go try and bust through the drifts. Be sure to bring your shovels. I know last year a few of us went out pre running on Thursday, and spent the majority of the day in the snow. It was a blast, but progress was s l o w.

Also, in the last three years of NWF's being held at Naches, we've run into snow every year at the top of Manastash. Last year was the most I've seen, so I'll be curious how this year compares.

Either way, it's going to be a good time.

Yes, I agree in the sense that if there is melting snow then there is mud and we don't need to be tearing anything up, and besides I don't do mud! I detest the stuff not to mention if you are "muddin' you probably breakin' the law! No mud! Did you guys get that? I hate mud!

After speaking with Nick I plan to have multiple spare alternators this year. I don't like mud either, it simply doesn't bring me any joy and it's hard on parts. Regarding snow, I'm locked with full case Detroits front and rear, off camber trails + snow can be a very discouraging day but it all depends on the snow.

The problem this time of year it isn't snow anymore. It is more like a snow cone, just turns to ice as soon as you put the weight of a jeep on it. It can make progress almost stop completely.

R.Des.Jardin I hope you don't hate mud too much, Kaner can have it's fair share of mud. Most all other trails seem to be fairly mud free.

Mud on Kaner? party1:
My understanding is that it can be sooooo muddy that sometimes it sucks your entire seat up your crack :shhh: I wonder if he ever got that back out?
