Racing jack

Same Jack here for $215 less...

This is the jack you'll find most guys running

Although, for me, I'd run something a bit larger than a 1.5 ton.

2 ton: http://www.harborfreight.com/2-ton-lightweight-aluminum-racing-jack-with-rapid-pump-68051.html

3ton: http://www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-lightweight-aluminum-racing-jack-with-rapid-pump-68052.html

The 2 and 3 have a bit larger height to them. I have the 1.5 ton, and while it works, it definitely strains to pick up my Jeep.

Jim,

I have heard horrible things about harbor freight jacks.

And OTC has a lifetime warranty.

Also the its no go on the Wilmar Jack only rated for 3k lbs

I'm not sure you're understanding... those are the EXACT same jacks... Just different stickers. I linked to a 2 and 3 ton as well. Most guys run the 1.5 or 2 ton's.

As for hearing horrible things, I'm not sure who you've been talking to? Most ALL racers (excluding the big boys) run either the HF jack or a craftsman jack, and many more have had issues with the craftsman jack than the HF jack.

Another angry craftsman jack owner here... mine shit out within a month (right after i lost receipt, bought a 2nd one, to return the first one for cash/exchange delio.... The 2nd one started to not work right... so i had to mess with the oil bleed.... finally got it to work....

The worst part is, is i bought the craftsman especially for the ruffstuff skid.... my friend bought the harbor freight version instead... his HF has never let him down. Sure the hf has a less polished touch to it... but its worked 100% of the time... My craftsman is at about 60%

my Craftsman broke and they wont honor anything after a year warranty and dont sell parts!!!!! LAST Craftsman jack I buy!!!

Yeah Craftsman is known for their awesome warranties, I am surprised they are jerking you off like that. That could be why they are going under!! The OTC jack has a lifetime warranty only racing jack out there with it.

I think I would buy a HF if I was going to hack it up ( saw a posting on Jeepspeed where he welded a plate to the jack so he could mount it )

I would rather spend a little bit more now than deal with the headache of HF or craftsman. Every time I read something about craftsman jacks they got blasted, so I feel for you. Good luck with them!

I am going have to disagree with you on the same jack. From what I can see they may use the same structure for the jacks but in hydraulics they are different.
From the original posting I posted the OTC jack is rated for 2tons verses the Wilmar ( which looks to have same structure ) is only rated for 3k lbs. ( 1.5 ton ) The Jeep weights what 3075lbs, plus I would be using the jack on other vehicles I have.

I haven't talked to anyone about what I have heard about Craftsman or HF. But it just seems every where were I have read a review about either one they are being blasted. I have never been a fan of harbor freight its seems like they have all generic stuff. Its like going to the dollar store, instead of Target.

Personally I would rather a little more now than deal with the headaches of HF or craftsman.

Keep in mind your only lifting half to a quarter of the weight of the vehicle depending on location. So a car that weighs 3000 pounds should be easily lifted by a 1.5 ton jack. Granted, jack design and quality factor here too of course.

I've never seen a 1.5 on a race car, let alone a Jeep. They will not lift a corner of the jeep very well if at all and won't reach the axle with 35" tires.

The 1.5's should come with a keychain for your neck.

The HF's are great jacks, and with a little maintenance last very well.

I've seen quite a few on chase trucks for buggies, a few 14 trucks, 7 trucks, etc.

FYI, those aren't "hacked up" to put a plate on it. You build a skid plate for the bottom, remove the wheels, and bolt it where the wheels bolted. This allows for easier use in the dirt.

On a side note, this is starting to sound like an "OTC" advert... Why even ask the question if you're sure that's the best jack on the market? Other than to get the name out there?

You can disagree all you want, but put them side by side and they're the same jack. "Hydraulics" aren't some voodoo magic, it's fluid passing through a valve. There are SEVERAL companies who sell that exact same jack under different names, the same (assuming chinese) manufacturer sells them to all of them. It's no different than the "Kragen HID's" everybody sells under their own brand.

As for the warranty, you would be wrong again. You can get a lifetime warranty from HF on their jacks for like 8 bucks.

This.

Hey jim... I took Scott (dust junkies posting in here) the hf one w my keep and pile o parts. 2 days later I got a question thrown at me and I was lost. He asked where the key chain was? I asked wtf? He said for the cute jack to clip to.

The jack would barely even touch my axle when all the way up w 35 tires at 12psi.

Must use a taller jack we found. For a jeep at least w 35's.

One of the biggest importers of jacks is TorinJack.com. If you scan their pages you will most likely find the jack you have but painted in a different color. They offer custom paint/stickers for companies. The best thing is that if you can match up your jack, they offer repair parts.

I got a Harbor freight 1.5T jack for my truck. (not the one currently advertized, but similar) It has no problem picking up any corner, or either end(center of the axle) of the MJ. It is a little short(truck sits on 31"s) It'll pick up the truck on pavement, but needs a short extension in loose dirt, as it only has bout 2" of lift once the tire's off the ground. Adequate for what I need. 75 bucks. Looks similar to the OTC jack, except only has one carry handle.

most of the people using the race jacks in an off road application i have seen are using an extension on the pad to make it reach the axle. More often than not just a piece of big tube welded to the pad with a plate welded on top.

I have more than got my 35 dollars out of my 1.5 hf jack. It's not the racing one but i have never had problems with the hydraulic only the release when u turn the handle sticks. I have used it for 3 years. Finally I took it to hf and the replaced it for free with not even having a warranty. Yes their tools arent the best but they work. And they usually don't give a hassle when u need to exchange something.

Haha, I've got a 8ish inch extension piece for mine that I use. Keep it light baby!

Haha, replied to Robert before I saw this, but yes, this is what most guys do.

x2, simple solution for racers.... KISS.

Truf!
