Hey all, debating picking up an 87 MJ for the cheap. However, it has a 4cyl with a auto trans. I have a 97' XJ with a I6 and a 5-speed. How hard would swapping the engine, tranny, and T-case be?
Hey all, debating picking up an 87 MJ for the cheap. However, it has a 4cyl with a auto trans. I have a 97' XJ with a I6 and a 5-speed. How hard would swapping the engine, tranny, and T-case be?
mine started as an 87 2.5L stick, 2WD.....it's now 4WD with a 4.0 (but I stayed all Renix to keep it simple).
The 4.0 swap isn't hard, you just have to swap alot of parts.

p.s. FWIW, if that rig really is an 87 (not an 86) and it's an auto, it'll have a (2WD) AW4 tranny, and 4.56 gears in the (most likely) D35 rear and D30, if it's 4WD.
