Question for the air compressor gurus

Here at the HIXJA World Headquarters, we are waaayy too cheap to actually go out and buy a larger air compressor.

We have a 4hp(peak) 12 gallon direct drive compressor, it was free. But it cycles way to much for my tastes using just an 1/2 impact gun. Usually I get about one set of lugs off before it needs to cycle on.

We 'dove' an identical compressor, that has a dead motor. We were thinking or plumbing in the second tank, to use its capacity to reduce the cycling.

What problems are We going to run into????

No problems to speak of, other than to inspect the tank to be added for damage prior to install.
Yes, you will reduce the number of cycles, but the cycles will last longer.
Just do it.

Yeah what they said.

Air is stupid, it doesn't know the shape of the tank, hell your air hose is actually part of the overall air tank i suppose.

I mated a 6 HP/25 gal set up (new) with a 250 gal tank that I aquired. like they stated longer cycles, but all four tires come off without the cycling. watch for rust on an older tank (mine was inside with auto drains on it for its entire service life)
