Putting in a Dana 300

I think it was a 93. I'm going to try and put it where the stock shifter is. I think the other FWD manual toyotas from around that year have a similar shifter setup.

I got one from a Dodge Stealth (Mitsubishi 3000GT) on Friday. It seems to have more "throw" and larger cables than the toyota ones I looked at.

I started fitting the front DS this morning. It's a tight fit. I'm going to have to cut about 2" out of it.

It's a ight fit for the shift rails too. I'm going to have to redesign my shifter set up.

It's tight but everything shifts without hitting. goint to try and get the center console in now.

Was going to say, it looks like that driveshaft is going to hit the shift cable setup when the axle droops.

Well I had to take about 2"s out of my front DS. I got it cut down and back together. Now I just need to put it in, check for run out and weld it up.

I also added 2.5"s into my shifter handle. The boot works alot better now. Hopefully I'll have it finished up this weekend.

i picked mine up last night. getting another 231 over the weekend. going to make mine a doubler based off the mad rooster kit. all components will be home made (including the coupling shaft)... i'll start a thread when i get to it.

i've already got plans on how to do everything concerning the doubler. just need to get the steel early next week and figure out exactly how to flip the D300 in terms of shifting.

plan for making the coupling shaft: take stock 231 output shaft and cut it off. i also happen to have a spare transmission output shaft... i'll cut both of them down to the right length, chuck them up in a lathe and machine a bevel (for welding) and a 1/2" reamed hole to press a pin into. then i'll slam them together, burn it home, and get it heat treated.
