Pulling Engine

I was just looking at some pics and I was wondering if I have to remove the valve cover and the starter before I remove my engine. Sorry this is the first time I have ever done anything like this. Thanks for help the as always.

I pulled mine it makes pulling the engine easier. It gives you more room to work with.

I didn't pull the valve cover, but i did pull the starter.
