Proposed closure of 200+ CA State Parks! *URGENT*

Wait a moment here people.......did any of you vote last Tuesday?

What did you think was going to happen?

I'm looking for a link listing the proposed park closures....is there one?

Where is the money to run the state going to come from?
Lets face it, we lived (they ran) California well above our (thier) means, and now
its going to bite us in the butt. Less fire fighters, less sheriffs, CHP, less teachers, less
state parks.
Nobody wants to see the cuts made, but, once again, where is the money going to come from?
Think of your own household budget, if you don't have any money, what do you cut?

Just sayin'.......

Hell yeah I voted and hell no I'm not taking the blame for this! This isn't my fault!

Cut the funding to the parks by 50% and then double the fees if you have to do something drastic!

We need some damn capitalists in office. These politicians insist on running everything poorly or not running it at all.

OMFG that is ridiculous!! Some of those places are absolutely awesome, what a fricken joke that somebody could actually even consider this an option, looks like I am going to be writing some more personal letters. Do these idiots have ANY idea how much revenue some of these state parks generate? I grew up in Carpinteria and they rake the cash in EVERY summer(thousands of tourists), Leo Carrillo??/ Gaviota? I'm pissed, there is NO EXCUSE FOR THIS!!!

Hell yeah I voted and hell no I'm not taking the blame for this! This isn't my fault!

So many places i love going are on that list!!!

I can second what you say about Carpinteria, I live off of the street that enters the state beach and every night coming home there is tons of RV's and Campers headed in for the night. It seems to be packed all the time.

I think they need to cut other things, Like the proposed subway in LA. They are going to waste so much money on it, and now they are going to start drilling for an environmental impact test.

nice place to live! My mom(and where I grew up, CHS class of '92) is on the corner of 8th and walnut in the big brown house, and my dad lives down off of 4th street. Carp is a nice place for sure, just couldn't quite afford to buy a pad there, I am in town all the time though, we'll have to have a cup of joe some time!

You talking about the brown house with the open 3 parking spots, and the electric car?

We are in the condo's on the end of 8th across the street from CHS next to the creek (got a good deal on a rental and pay the same as we where in ventura). I'm driving around in this rig so its hard to miss - http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3340/3530873823_d2c244fea8.jpg

Back on topic, Wont closing the parks lose the state more income then it costs to run?

You figure all the cities are going to lose out on food, ent, and other sales.

yep, that is the one(had some crazy parties on the deck on top of the carport before I knew any better:)), my sister lives in the back house with her daughter as well. That is actually the junior high school you live across from, know the area well, lived in Carp for 28 years or so.

Cool rig, I'll watch for you next time I am in town.

I simply cannot see how this is even a valid proposal, how is it going to save any money(and as you mention counteract the millions in lost revenue)? Not like the park rangers are bringing home 6 figures, they live in mobile homes next to the sewer plant in carp.....

I think(and hope) it is merely a scare tactic, but taking it seriously at this point.

Subway in LA? The city is about as stable as a Jell-O mould, why for do they want to tunnel under it? Talk about wasting money...

LA should be decentralised and dispersed anyhow - there's no logistical reason that city should continue to exist, and I seem to want to recall it being about 18 hours away from starvation at pretty much any given time.

Until people (politicians) wake up and smell the putrid rotten coffee, and realize the only way to dig ourselves out of this pit of debt those asshole elected officials have put us in, is to cut all but the most essential public services, like police, fire, public trans etc. then we will continue to be cut in things we care about. First we should get rid of welfare and most other social programs. Government has no business being a sugar daddy to lazy, worthless people who have no desire to contribute to society. Note that I wouldn't cut these things out completely but I would eliminate if for those who are not trying to better themselves. Next we should shore up the borders tighter than a frogs ass and make it very unpleasant to be an illegal alien in our society. They have no right to consume public resources, period!! I don't care what their gawdamn sob story is, they are not americans and therefore have no right to money that came from our taxes. We should cut all but the most critical research programs, we should trim the fat at all levels of government. If they need to trim the parks budget, then they should only trim those parks that do not bring in enough money to cover operating costs. If that means some of the parks I like to use get cut, then so be it. We should invest our tax dollars in ways that will actually stimulate commerce, because commerce is what makes our society function. But none of this can happen unless it is demanded by the people who are meant to have control of our government-US!
