Projext "V8 XJ" Build

Why do driveshafts cost so much?

adams?, i was lucky enough to nab a custom length rear drive shaft when i bought my old transfer case, i doubt its long enought for wheeling but should be good for the street

I bought a LS type intake, it clears the stock hood. As far as the no low end crap from the other forums......it's a V8 in an XJ. It's going be sweet!

i nabbed an ls1 intake with injectors for fairly cheep(compared to others at least)

Yea, Adams is local to me. I'm going with their extreme duty driveshaft with solid CV joints. $285 each...

At least thats the 2nd to last "expensive" item on the list. Only other thing is an exhaust

are you gonna have a shop do the exhaust?

ill eventually do adams drive shafts on mine, but i figure i can limp it on the street for a while first

Yea, A buddy of mine did a 5.3 in his TJ and had a pretty good shop do it. I thought about buying a welder and doing it myself, because cost would be almost the same but I'll probably take it there. I wish someone premade a 3" exhaust for our XJ's but no one does.

im doing mine my self, mostly cause i have the welder already, im not really looking forward to it haha

Oh. I forgot! I told my wife that i'll be having a lot of late nights in the garage getting the Jeep ready to run. She says its ok as long as i get it running soon.

My wife is the coolest

Are you done yet?

Awesome job! Where did you learn how to setup the wiring? Is there a book or a website that explains how to splice which wires with which ones?

Hey guys,

So I don't know if this is an issue or not, but I just cut the ground splices and covered them, is this going to be ok??

I don't see a problem with that. I ended up cutting a few splices out completely and mine still works.

I basically figured out what I needed to keep and followed the wires in a Jeep Factory Service Manual (The jeep bible). Honestly i HATE wiring however it can be learned.

Just ordered 2 Adams Extreme duty Driveshafts. $618.51 :hang::hang::hang::hang::hang:

Just added some items to my "budget" sheet:

$9,672
