Projext "V8 XJ" Build

Are the alternator/PS pump relocation brackets from LSBrackets? Have you set the hood on to make sure the alternator clears? Are you happy with the brackets? I'm thinking of redoing my Mickey Mouse version of brackets.

Yep. LSBrackets. No clearance issues with the alternator just the throttle body. I'm happy with them, they do exactly what they're supposed to. Keep in mind you'll need a new PS pump as well

Love the build posts.. been flipping between this build and 5.9longarm's build, all great reading. Can't decide which one I like better... both look fantastic :-)

So unfortunately (and fortunately) my plans are changing for the Jeep. I'm not selling it. My wife and I have made the decision to purchase a home. We've been talking about this for a long while and now that we have the financial stability to do so. The home won't be ready until September so we have quite a while, but we need to reel in our spending for a down payment. Luckily the new home will have a 3 car garage!

I'm not stopping the build by any means. But I am holding off on a lot of the "extras". I'll be getting the jeep into a running state just so I can pull it out of the garage and into a garage. So a lot of the emissions stuff is going to wait. I really only need to get the harness re-worked and a couple of small things to get the jeep in a runable state, so it shouldn't cost too much.

I saw that on the site, seems like a lot of money for that pump everywhere I looked.

The harness work should be free, do it yourself. It really isn't that difficult and everything you need to know is on lt1swap. The bonus is you get to build it exactly the way you want so it it fits well and you get to say you did it. Lots of extra cool points when you're showing someone

When I did mine I took a large piece of cardboard and drew to scale my engine, transmission, sensors, relay box, PCM, etc. Then I sat on my living room floor and built the harness to fit. When I was finished I dropped it into the Jeep and it fit perfectly.

On the other hand, I had a hell of a time with mine - and have never been that happy with it. Shrug. Still need to get my OBD2 socket sorted out, something isn't right after my last go-through with the harness :o

I don't want to muck up the the OP's thread too much here, but if the first one didn't work get another and try again. They are pretty easy/cheap to come by where I am.

I've thought about it, but for the assurance that it'll be done right I'd rather send it out

Some small updates:
Heater hoses are in:

HVAC vacuum line is hooked up

I had to move the fan behind the shroud due to some clearance issues. I actually was able to tuck the transfer case up a bit higher so it moved the front of the engine down.

It's like 1/4" between the fan and crank pulley

Also added some radiator brackets on the top to keep it from moving around

Lookin good bud. I need to start a thread soon too. I'm elbow deep in my swap right now

Even if you don't do a full on thread - a few pictures of anything a little different than the next guy's swap is always fun.
