Project: Rattle Rattle

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

I would.

BTW, I want your unmolested front fenders, I have a set of silver cut fenders to trade. ;)

damn i wish you would have said that sooner. like before the gear party, i may have been cool with that. i am planning on only cutting if i have to, it i have no need then i will leave them but im sure i will need to for the 35s.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Looking good Sam. If you guys decide to swap fenders let me know. I could help get them up to Michigan or what ever next month since I will be heading that way

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

The only problem is that if im trimming its happening tonight after work. so if you can get me some fenders in 10 hours then that may work lol.
but seriously, I hope to not trim then if I have to it will be as little as I need to.

I plan on putting the tires on and then flexing, and trim if needed, and flex, and trim if needed, and flex, and trim if needed, and so on.

Sam, regarding the questions about the pitman arm and needing drop brackets.....yes and yes. Since this will be a rig you are going to drive on the road, you will not like those steep CA angles and it will take mumps very harsh. I ran my 6.5 RC lift for about a year before I got drop brackets and beleive me, it was a 100% change in ride and handling. They are cheap from RC and they are an easy install. You will be amazed with the difference. I would put a drop pitman arm on as well, once again they are cheap and will help with your steering linkage geometry and it will help to reduce some possible binding issues with the tre's/joints etc. If you use your NAXJA discount you can save some $$ from RC and those 2 items are both proven items from them (I know a few guys have had problems w/ the pitman arms, but honestly there is not a whole lot to go wrong on a pitman arm if it is installed and torqued correctly...I wheeled mine for 7 years w/o any problems). I did the original RC drop bracket install and write up for them as a customer, it is located here somewhere....and then a year later I cut it all out and went with TNT long arms due to a great deal on trading with Collin :D

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

^^^ What he said. I did RE drop brackets on my 6.5" lift 6 or 7 jeeps ago and wondered why I waited so long after the first drive.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

i have never claimed to know alot about alot so help me out.
is this movement normal? the rear barley moves at all, the front spins a bit, but neither have any up and down play.

the rotational play your showing in your video is called backlash.

do you have a lunchbox locker in the front? if so, that amount of backlash is normal and expected (just by the way the lunchbox locker works). if its an open diff, you have WAYYYYY too much backlash.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Yesterdays job was tires. Ran into a problem, of coarse it had to be the last tire, 2 of the lugs would not come off. They had recently been off so I assume I must have cross threaded them. Gave it to one of the guys and he used some extractor tool to remove them. Cool new black lugs went on afterward.

Then I needed to test the flex, and fenders/qrt situation. I did need to trim some of the fenders but left the qrt alone. Will likely trim them to at some point, but I couldn't even turn with the fenders like that, so they had to go.

For the most part it is riding nice, dame Rt. rear shock fell off again, so I will have to bump the shocks up to the top of the list. All of them are install wrong. Tires are wobbly as hell so I may pick up those beads sooner than later.
Other than that...pics

1st we flexed on the alinement rack at work

I do not have any artistic part about me, and cant hold a steady hand to save my life. So for cosmetic purposes, I like to have Rew do my cutting.

Then we have this
