the idea has merit. depends on what kinda axle swap.



on a different tangent, i've considered a 3rd gen 4 runner providing its got the v6 in it....but they are IFS....meh.

You can probably put a late model 8.25 or find an easy ford 8.8 to throw in the back. maybe a HP30 for the front? Should handle the budget build stroker power easy.

yea. they are fairly easy to source.

My wife is looking for a wrangler after she got rid of her X last year shes been missing the whole open roof and offroading with the guys..
i drove a TJ 4 banger, they come with 4:10 gears and the liberty engine.
I have a rubicon but theres no way im forking out 14 k for one for her.
I found this place in AL that sells wrecked TJs for around 4k.. they re on craigslist too.
All depends what you want to do with it.
theres a guy in Chatt CL with a YJ with a bad rust for $1500 and theres a couple "deals for around 3k .. 6 cyl jeeps.. use www.searchtempest.com to help your searches.

I"m ok with finding something wrecked that is still fairly salvageable (i.e. frame isnt tweaked beyond existance), and either semi buggying it or sourcing new panels/jy panels. even if its missing engine/tranny long as all the wiring harnesses arent gone. I dont really want to deal with rust issues, cuz i know how body rot can cancerous and spread...we have a ford 150 highboy with body rot we got for free (which i despise)

i'd like to stay semi older because i want the HO 4.0 I6...i dont want to deal with those goofy 3.2 v6's or whatever they are...

Wish I paid better attention, found a 98 TJ the other day 84k original miles 5 speed I6, yada yada, the 10 inch skyjacker kit, the works, tranny needed work, synchros were shot. Guy was asking 5k, I tried to do some trading with him but no luck Ill see if its still available.

that ones long gone, so I figure Ill spend a few minutes searching Clist for ya... Free time.

thanks for looking for my XJFreak.....I think all project ideas are officially on hold till i return from the sandbox, and we get some other stuff to where it really should be. I'm just bouncing ideas for the moment, unless I came across some 300 dollar deal.

yea...people dont like leaving projects out...or early spring when they realize they left it out all winter and now it has more issues than before....
