Project Downward Spiral

He's gonna be wheeling at NACfest, he's gotta be motivated. :D I'll come help ya out Bill. Anytime it's raining. ;) I gotta get mine done too!! But you have alot further to go, mine's more of a money game whereas you just literally have a ton to do (although it seems like you're making leaps and bounds in the progress dept!!)....

x2 with Colin, Good Luck sir!!!

Damn sweet bike man.
I used to ride a lot. Not so much anymore.
More tonight? You are one motivated dude.
Good luck man!
This week (besides Monday) has been get home from work, quick dinner, and lock myself in the garage until I can't keep my eyes open anymore. :D
I am very motivated, if I don't make the NAC-Fest deadline it won't be for lack of trying.
But you have alot further to go, mine's more of a money game whereas you just literally have a ton to do
Oh, trust me, money is a serious issue.
(although it seems like you're making leaps and bounds in the progress dept!!)....
I'm trying...

Well, I just mean that mine seems to be mostly a money issue, whereas your's is seemingly at least closer to equal parts. Idk haha....

Alright, well some progress was made. I didn't reach the goal of finishing the rear suspension as I wanted to this weekend, mostly because I ended up fooling around with steering ideas for to long on Saturday. I did some mock up and just didn't like the placement of the drag link. Everything seemed to work much better if it just wasn't there... so I got rid of it. I'll be going full hydro with a single ended ram and tierod. It is more expensive and I didn't want to spend the money, but I think it will be worth it in the end. I debated the double ended cylinder as well, but I just can't do the added cost. As it is I'm going to have to save some before I can even buy the stuff I need.

Anyway, front suspension is complete minus upper shock mounts. I'm going to have to cut and go into the engine bay as the 12" travel Fox's are just long.
Axle welding is completed and half painted as I still need to fab up a mount for the panhard bar. Sorry no pictures of the axle, I'll shot some soon.

I did finish the crossmember and all the frame side mounts on it. I had picked up a 4x8 sheet of 11gauge for a really good price and I wanted to try out my 3/4" dimple die I've had laying around for awhile. So I spent to much time coming up with a cool brace for the upper mount on the crossmember.
Works pretty well with my 20T press, probably would be better on some thinner stuff. I think this is probably the max capacity of the die.

All welded up and painted, you can see the two holes giving the two options for the 3-link posted above.

Complete crossmember shot. The notch/dip over the driver's side lower mount is for driveshaft clearance. I fabricated this so that it would be as high as possible and I needed this so that the CV clears. Also, I know there are some light spots in the paint, I have already put another coat on it.

Thanks Colin!

I'm debating that right now. I think I'm probably going to just keep them for trail spares. I could use the cash, but I'll kick myself later down the road if I need one.

Come get your darn seats! :spin1:

Those are next on the woman's list to grab, they held her first paycheck so she's just waiting, and I got my own jeep to pay for haha

sexy crossmember, very nice sir !!

that is a very sexy cross member...
and is that a Stihl i see in the back ground there?... planning to make a chainsaw mount some where in that cross member? :-P

Looking good Bill, can't wait to wheel along side this thing.

I was just looking back through your post, and I like your bender. Want to let me use it sometime soon? ;)

Now Bill... I won't be like Mark and ask to TAKE your bender from you, that's just ridiculous. I'll just drop my Jeep off at your place for ya. :D

Wait a second Travis, I wasn't asking to TAKE his bender. I just asked to use it. Location doesn't matter.

I could even lend a hand when I'm done Bill ;)

Whatever, whatever... :D

What are ya lookin to bend Mark? (Obviously tube. Don't be a smart***, thanks ;))

There might be a small fee. ;)

What do you need Mark? What kinda scale project are you looking at?
I'm gonna finish my stuff first, then I'm game for almost anything.

Oh ya, I wouldn't think of holding you up on your build, your stuff comes first.
Once I get a design made up when I have time, I just need to bend up tube for the carrier portion of a rear tire carrier.
I honestly have no clue of when that may be.

Not Jeep related, but a correction. :D
Damn sweet bike man.
Alright... after talking bikes with Anthony till the wee hours in the morning I realized I posted the wrong like to the bike.
Mine isn't the one above, it is a 2002 Trek 4500.
