Project "Constructive Deconstruction"

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

What about choco taco?
i litterally LOLed at this.
I have not. Ive heard it has a different aroma. :dunno:
its all pink on the ins.... you get the idea.
Walt, consider this an official derail.

Fore 'you started it' Wheeler
you may have derailed my thread, but not my complete lack of sticking to a plan! "1 step forward, some dumb broad will come chop your legs off" i always say. or was it "2 steps back"? i cant remember exactly. :anon:

:new: LATEST UPDATE:
8.8 = gone
4.10s = gone

what i got out of it all:
- D30 with 3.55s
- low mileage 29 spline 8.25 with 3.55s
- CB radio and antenna
- H&T (essentially got it free through all the bartering)

new plan... new shoes, hardware, my good drums, diff fluid, and then its just a matter of bleeding the brakes and ill have 3.55s in the rear. the front D30 will get new BJs, UCA bushings, and ZJ steering. all of which i was planning to do regardless. then its just a matter of putting new my shafts and unit bearings in it, fluid, my rotors and calipers to get it under the jeep. thatll wait though, ill be waiting until i get the CA drop brackets, doing one big install, and getting it professionally aligned. some time around the end of july me thinks. SYE will be somewhere in the middle.

seems like a dumb move, i know. but the 3.55s will go in a LOT sooner than the 4.10s would have. and i feel these axle are more than strong enough for my wheeling. ill also have an extra set of axle to give the works without regards to time. something like these guys:http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1049987&highlight=turd+polish

i guess ill throw a picture in here...

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

this happened over my 2 day "weekend"

i bought everything listed in my last post and went to work. for my first axle swap and no other helping hands, i did alright. :cool: brakes feel solid now, good pressure. i accidentally fixed the E-brake, so thats a plus. speedo is about 7mph over. seems like it gets up and goes a little quicker with the 3.55s i guess. i dont know really, thats using the butt dyno, which is going to SWEAR it works. over all im content, just need about $500 to get the front done. (BJs, UCA bushings, ZJ steering, and CA drop brackets) then i can get it all aligned and get my 4wd back. i plan to pull the extra shafts some time like monday ish... not that i really need them, i wont be wheeling any time soon.

decided to take the lady to the beach with all the heat, had to take a little poser shot.

i really think i need a SYE. when i was reinstalling the DS i accidentally dropped one of the caps to the yoke side U-joint. the one i recently replaced. when i looked the needles werent just out of place but a large number of them were actually broken. WTF? got a replacement for free, but im thinking that my angles might be eating this joint. :dunno: but i dont see any cops around...

cross my fingers, hopefully tomorrows check is sizable so i can go get a DS.

ya... i rip, son. i did get some work done last night. i took a note from machspeed (mike) removed all of my AC components from under the hood in preparation for installing OBA. oil changes should be a breeze now. i had a big 'ole pile of parts but forgot to snap a pick. you should know what they look like anyway. also installed my 60mm throttle body. seems to have lost some grunt down low, but has picked up at the top end. which should be good for highway right? at least i tell myself that. its also got a nice little whistle now. also picked up a CB radio and antenna that i need to install. i think ill tackle the washer fluid relocation today. lastly, ive been talking with john D about getting my rockers replaced. that should happen at the end of july, early august before school starts.

then... its off to rocks and valleys!

my header is deffinantly cracked... also not looking forward to replacing that.

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

That hat should do a nice job of protecting your grape...

Went to R&V on Saturday with John B, we ran the new Hump Trail, Big Ugly and the Long Crawl a couple times forward and backward. I used my rockers a lot, along with using my bumpers, tube doors, front fenders, rear quarters and exo-cage; it was a rough go but nothing broke and it was a lot of fun. Going to need some paint work over the next winter for sure. I'll send you some pics later. On my way to the other coast today...

we need to get a group together and go up there during the week. If memory serves me, Ron will open the gates with 8 or more rigs.

x2, i think it was 10 or more. but what ever, the number is close enough.

and good for you. i wouldnt want to pass through here if i was you.

EDIT:
PS - washer fluid bottle has been replaced and moved inside the engine bay. looks good and works great. i just need to install a cone filter. i goofed a little and didnt think about the placement of the float (low washer fluid sensor thing) and its really close to the master cylinder. i had to clearance the air box a little. cone filter should kill both birds with one metaphorical stone.
