Finally this thread gets interesting...

mac 'what if it was your daughter' gyvr

I know, I know. That's my delema. This girl he's talking about is prob close to my daughters age. But then again, I'm a guy too. :twak:

I would like to state also that I could only wish my daughter could meet someone that would turn her down, even tho I know Walt still thinks he screwed up, I think he shows much more self controll than most.

Good job Walt, I give you permission to talk to my daughter from 4' away. :D

At least your a fast learner.... You can't decide which car you want to spend your life with until you test drive a few..... or more

Re: Project "Spring Semester Of 2011"

4.10 up front... 8.8 in the rear with 4.10s. 33x10.50.

the important part was the carrier... they are $100 new so i figured with the gears it was a good buy. i could easily sell them for $100 (+/-).

ill go bigger eventually, but that requires more work than im willing to do and can fund right now. i know im doing the middle man thing... but i need my gas mileage and ride quality back. right now the jeep sees 98% street miles as its my DD. and driving 1000 miles to Va at 10 miles per gallon is not going to cut it. especially if it gives me shaken baby syndrome.

Re: Project "Spring Semester Of 2011"

:new: UPDATE:

- got the pictured parts now sitting in my apartment. these are some awesome paper weights, they dont let the paper go anywhere!

- getting my final dimensions and designs for the bumpers i want to build. they are a lot different than the ones i drew, but have some of the same lines. im shooting for simpler and stronger with less material. which will be lighter and less work!

- also need recomendations for a the gear install. traverse city, cadillac, mount pleasant areas work best... could possibly do detroit (have family in royal oak in case i needed to leave the jeep at a shop).

-SYE is going on within the week.

having a little fun making a new bumper. picked up a stocker for free (thanks mike) and cut the corners:

goofin around at work, you can kind of see the bumper i cut. i usually park like this:

picture from last years trip to Va, next to my buddy's TJ. before the michigan winter got hold of my jeep and mandated this build thread:

i should have XXXXing left the bumper (and whole jeep) like that... im dumb, i know.

im at a stand still, i got a little cash to dump in to this heep and i cant decide... do i stick to my plan and get control arm drop brackets? dan has an 8.8 that is supposed to be exactly what i need, im going to have to go check it out. or i could get a lunchbox for the D30 carrier. i kind of want something that i can use right away, i need to turn a wrench. im almost leaning towards the control arm drop brackets for that reason. or even the lunchbox, i could have it installed before the blessing, and reuse it when the 4.10s go in. my diffs could probably use some love, they havent had the fluid changed since '97. :dunce:

still working on metal, ill also be getting some to do a home brew truss on the 8.8. :) OBA is on the back burner a little, SYE is up in the air whenever really. worked a deal for some rear BPEs from IRO. waiting on those. im just biding time till i finish school and ill have a lot more time and my GARAGE back. which will be nice. and tools. POWER tools. haha. ive decided on tires, goodyear duratracs... ill search craigslist for a set of swampers or something to wheel. making it streetable is the concern right now. im not a fan of mud anyway, so i can live with the poor performance in the mud.

Re: Project "Spring Semester Of 2011"

did a little spring cleaning today...
went through and worked all my locks and hinges. no more creeks, pops, or groans. also tightened up the track bar. was loose at both ENDs. we will see how much better it does on the drive home. im home in lake city for the evening, i love being here and having all my tools.

got some JKS BPEs for sale. buy them... someone.

Re: Project "Spring Semester Of 2011"

the good:
- picked up a JCR bumper today for a steal.
- will probably pick up an 8.8 tomorrow for a steal if everything works out. opened it up and found an open carrier instead of a LSD. thats not a bad thing per say... a lunchbox in the stronger rear axle than my D30 will probably be best.

the bad:
- cross threaded a steering box bolt installing said bumper. ive got some fixing to do. i think i can retap it with the box bolted up. im hoping a tap will be long enough to reach through the frame.
- im broke... come on payday!
