Thanks for the input on the nexans. Never had them before. Only heard they were OK in dry and wet and suck in ice or snow. Next round something better.

'BecauseRaceCar' ?
If is my son's answer/response to 'Why did you do that to your Jeep?'
Why would you supercharge a Jeep?
Why would you put a GT500 hood vent on a Jeep?
Why do you have chrome wheels? etc.

It is not going to be a track only car. I guess majority spirited good weather street driven, canyon carving, with some cone dodging/autocross, would take it down the 1/4 mile, and dyno it. We have other toys for trackdays. No endurance racing, SCCA, NASA at this time.

It is a 'test bed' for us to use other products and ideas. It is to use up some of the spare parts we have collected. Not totally budget, but no $1000 brakes either. We want to try and do the best we can for a cost conscious effort. For instance, going to replace the ball joints and wheel bearings, the offset ball joints are only '$100' more and the labor is the same. That makes good sense. I want to do a '$1000' supercharger DIY kit using a $100 JY GM eaton 62 supercharger at 5 pounds boost and not $4,000.

WJ brakes will net you the stopping power you need on a JY budget. Looking forward to another street rig build.

That's not the BIG brake kit. We run the one that requires 17" wheels to clear the rotors/calipers.

Tell me more about your BIG brake kit.
Looks like you use stock XJ knuckles.
What diameter rotors? What application are the rotors for?
What application are the calipers for?
Looks like just need the Vanco adapter brackets.

Nice project and jeep. :) IMO, it would even more sporty and bad-a$$ if you painted the lower part of the jeep, the grille, and the rims white. Of course, leave the roof rack, door handles, side view mirrors and window trims black.

The 'lower part of the jeep'-? do you mean paint the flares, bumper end caps and bumpers all white?

Of course the ugly blue stripes are coming off.

The knuckles are actually from a TJ, but same difference.

Not sure on the diameter but they require a 17" wheel to clear the calipers. The rotors are made by Centric and we have 6k+ race miles on them and they're still good. I think their original application was for either an Explorer Sport Trac or half ton Ram. Calipers come from the same vehicle. You'd have to ask Savvy Offroad (who sponsored us on this kit) for more specifics.

Whichever way you go, make sure to get Black Magic pads, they're unreal. AND they last.

I ran 255/55/r18s on Cobra 18x9 replicas, and my Jeep ran like trash, so I wish you all the best with your fatter tire combo (on spacers to boot). Good luck with the additional – dummy – m62 idea as well. Both are very logical concepts for a Jeep intended for handling, braking and speed. Oh and BTW, the typhoon was AWD; your Jeep isn’t, so stop posting competent builds in an attempt to class up this project.

That's nice, thanks for the compliments.

Whatever happened the turbo auto cross jeep in the first post? I was always very very interested in what happened to it and its builds. Wanted to see how the did the whole turbo setup honestly.

I'll be keeping an eye on this project, nice looking jeep.

Depending on how much you lower the front you might need to relocate the track bar bracket and correct the angles of the control arms. In this picture you can see how our arms are still level with the ground.

For adding camber make things easy on yourself and use the offset ball joints. The main reason we cut and bent our axle was because it was free. The ball joints would have been a big budget hit. Since this is mainly a street Jeep

Thanks Matt for sharing our facebook page and posting about the XJ-R. TeamPettyCash has always been very supportive.

Thanks

Got a new shorter adjustable track bar ordered to be built by IronMan.
Tubular upper and lower control arms with poly bushings coming, will check the angles. Ordering a set offset ball joints.
Waiting for the composite mono springs to come in and to install.
Steel ordered to build a flat transmission crossbrace for greater ground clearance. Exhaust mandrel 2.5" tailpipe being shipped. Rest of 2.5" exhaust waiting for install.
Front heavier springs ready to cut and install. Will have to look at bumpstops.
Different stereo and ignition lock waiting for install.
CAI sitting in a box waiting.
Want to ship the ECU to get 'Christuned'.

Lots to do, no time and it's cold out. Spring will be here soon.

Agreed, neither are as useful as a suede headliner.

Nothing wrong with spacers. I have had only great experiences with them on several other vehicles (like a F150 with 2" spacers). My dad had a Syclone... It wasn't slow either. The whole twin supercharger thing was just me toying around with the idea because I thought it would be cool. Now I really want to do it and have them both plumbed in basically making a m124 equivalent... We were able to get a single supercharged XJ running properly, so how much more difficult would it be to build a double supercharged XJ? Lol.

Here's what I got up to last weekend.. Supercharger works great off-road too. :firedevil Traction...not so much due to open diffs..

Haha. I like his suede headliner. Lol. And I actually have some suede in my off-road XJ... :sure: Now Yan can officially call me a ricer.
