Project 89 XJ

Went out this morning to go to work, got my jeep running but didn't sound right popped the hood and found the belt wrapped around the fan, then later on found out from my dad that my freeze plug popped out, DOH! So new belt, new intake gasket, and new freeze plug.

I'am officialy pissed off to hell, the motherf***er previous owner, decided to put water into the coolant system instead of antifreeze. So my whole system including the block is completely froze, and trying to drain the system out the peacock valve broke soooo now I need a new radiator which I new I was going to have to do sooner or later do to the fan hit the radiator. Any one now where I can get a radiator for cheap that will work.

Ouch that sucks man, need to check that stuff before the cold hits =D. When you replace your freeze plug, do them all. It probably unseated them all or most of them at least.

You said a couple posts up your freeze plug popped out.

Im guessing you will need a new motor. Good luck man, i hope it turns out for the better.

Here's a riddle this one got me, how do you have 5 freeze plugs all accounted for and 1 freeze plug that came from some where but 3 guys can't figure out where it goes. This freeze plug is oily and not covered in dust and dirt and doesn't look tan..:wierd:

Theres one or 2 on the backside of the block that you cant get to without pulling the motor or trans out. I think there is one on the backside of the head also, you hafta pull the head for that one.

Now that that is fixed... Sounds like a nightmare. You're lucky though, I need a new short block in my Cherokee, cant STAND the piston slap when it's not fully warmed up.

crap. same boat. I guess I don't REALLY need an engine, it's just annoying.

Sounds like a possible rebuild for you though. Maybe a stroker motor, use a 258 crank with longer connecting rods and compatition pistons that are domed. The piston slap comes from the rings not sealing in the chamber. It's supposed to be a snug fit not tight when you install a piston it will feel tight, that's fine but when you move it up and down you will notice its snug.
