Product/Services Bashing Threads...

Is it just me or is it that the occurance of bashing Products or Services is increasing?

IIRC, the Forum rules specifically prohibit such activity, unless there is some valid reason for said complaint.

I agree with the idea that if someone asks about a product or service, one should give their opinion, but it seems lately that the NAXJA forum is being used by an increasing number of people to rage their own little bit if Internet Terrorism on vendors who have not, for whatever reason, managed to obtain customer satisfaction.

Sometimes you just want to rant....do it at home in your closet to your teddy bear, nobody here gives a fawk.

I think it's the "misery loves company" syndrome. Maybe there can be a standard bitch form where people just fill in the blanks:
I'm so mad at _____________(fill in vendor)
I ordered my___________(part) last _____________(date). Didn't get it/Got wrong part/Parts were missing(circle one)
Called________(fill in number) times and _________(fill in name)said I would get a new part/get a refund(circle one) by________(date). Well, now it's been ___________ days and I haven't gotten my part/refund(circle one). So because of all this B.S. I'm never getting my parts from ____________(fill in vendor or hit enter key to automatically fill in Rusty's) anymore.

Something like this.

i was under the impression that "bashing" implied unwarranted or unprovoked negative posting - watching the recent threads i haven't seen that.

one could argue that the deficient customer service issues some vendors have displayed might not have been resolved to the customer's satisfaction had it not been for the negative publicity of having their inefficient, incompetent, apathetic or inadequate business practices illuminated on a public forum.

there seem to be plenty of forum users who prefer to idolize their favorite vendors in the face of documented, factual info though. :headinthesand:

bottomline, any vendor or manufacturer will llive or die based on their level and performance of customer service. it sometimes takes a little trial and tribulation for some vendors to recognize that but in the end they're better for it.

have a good weekend everyone.

it would be pretty easy to substantiate a claim like the one described if necessary, if to no one else, certainly to the vendor involved - document when the order was placed, provide evidence of the charge, provide evidence of the part not working or being the wrong part, provide evidence that the vendor has not responded to repeated inquiries, provide evidence that the charge was not reversed or the part not picked up.

what other motive would someone have to remark about such specific complaints having to do with credit card issues and/or returns processing or general customer service?

a million successful transactions with other consumers is often little comfort when someone is holding your money and refuses to return it or obfuscates the satisfactory resolution of a problem.

would it be preferable if the affected consumers just filed small claims lawsuits or notified state authorities and began legal action? that might ultimately be most beneficial to the affected consumer, but it would impact the ability of the community at large to make an informed decision about their own dealings with said vendor - unless you're in a habit of checking court records and BBB reports on any vendor you deal with.

the vendor stands to benefit the most when their customer service flaws are brought to a public forum - as they then have the opportunity to correct them, make the situation right and gain back a bit of respect and positive PR in return.....

i don't know why anyone would want to discourage negative feedback about specific transactions with vendors in favor of ad revenue or some lost sense of loyalty to vendors who partitipate in the discussion board. their reputation may preceed them, but that reputation is built one transaction at a time.

Experiences with customer service or products is one thing. A never ending bashfest is another. If a product has a certain weakness or someone has had a bad experience with a vendor I have no issue with their experiences being provided for us to use as we want.

It is entirely different when someone rants endlessly. If your post is locked and you start another one just to continue your bitch fest, something is wrong with you, not the vendor.

I know that some vendors do keep tabs on discussions in this and other forums...a fantastic way to keep a finger on the pulse of the customer base....as such if someone has a legimate problem it can be aired...I sell products myself (not related to to this), and have the occasional customer relations problem....and it is usually because a sales person simply takes the order from the customer based on what the customer thinks he wants...most of the time that is not what the customer needs...and you have the occasional damaged goods thing come up.

The bottom line for any vendor....don't sell crap products, you can't sell from an empty shelf, and if you don't have what the customer needs, send him to someone that does.

I have ranted on this forum before about a vendor....and feel fully justified by my desire to warn other potential victims to not deal with them....and if that worked, I am fine with it.

If you want hostility... your at the wrong place. God people that are not NAXJA involved just dont get this. IF A FREAKING CLUB!!!!!! Good lord people. Half of us know each other personally!

Dont come here and trash OUR boards. GO AWAY if you dont like it. Please.

never said i wasn't happy. someone, not me, posted a topic to discuss product/service "bashing" threads... i had a different point of view on what bashing was and what was legitimate first-hand feedback about transactional experience with a vendor.

i would think the whole user community would want and could benefit from that kind of info...

many sites manage this kind of content with "shops/vendors to recommend" "shops/vendors to avoid" forum areas where people can post their experiences good or bad...
