Possible access to OBD-II codes for 97+ XJs?

Shouldnt the code come out as a four digit number? I just got a 2.3

I've never had a code other than 55, so I don't know, but for two digit codes try this chart

it confirms 23 is intake air temp voltage

I'll have to try that on my '98, I knew that worked on my K-Cars, but thought I couldn't do that on the Jeep.

I just get the 2.3 reading on my 98, but the check engine light wasn't on beforehand. And no that's not from my trip reading.

The self-diagnostics give a 2-digit code. OBDII scanners generally give a 4-digit.
