is there a way to make it so it always saves your sent PM's?

OK, there is a limit to how many messages you can save on the forums... And I suppose once you max that out, it won't save any more.
At the top of the PM page, look for a drop-down menu. It defaults to [Inbox (__Messages) ] but ya can pull it down to get at your [ Sent Items ( __Messages) ]
At the bottom of that page, in the "Selected Messages" drop-down you can export them via download in a few different flavors - XML, CSV, or TEXT...
