Platte Canyon H.S. - Pray for 'em....

For those that do, say a prayer for the families and cops involved.

Thank God that guy kept his rage focused and didn't unload on the entire school. Could have been so much worse.

I was at work and listened to the whole thing on our SWAT Tac channel..... SWAT had to make some very tough decisions while negotiations were going on. When the guy put the 4pm ultimatum on the table..... it was clear it was not going to go down well - for anyone involved.

Please take what's reported by the media with a grain of salt, don't be too quick to judge. I for one know more than the media ever will and there simply were no other options.

My soul aches for the SWAT entry team and what they experienced in those milliseconds as they entered. I know all of them and alot of this is gonna bring back so many memories of Columbine for them.

The parents of those two girls...... watching as other kids get off the bus and go home - until there were two unaccounted for......

I know that this is not nearly the same as Columbine, or is it? I lived less than one mile from the highschool for 3 years and I can tell you that the community in the Pine Jct, Rolland Valley, Crow Hill, Baily, Shawnee and Grant areas are a very close, everyone knows everyone, canyon. It is so sad to see the reaction of a very "active in the community" sherriff loose his composure in a news interview to the point of tears.
My deepest sympathies go out to all of the family members and friends of the beautiful young lady that lost her life at the hands of a crazy man. And that the hands of God lift her precious soul into his open arms in heaven.
My hat is off to all of the law enforcement and all emergency personell involved in this horrific situation that they train for, talk about and hope that they never have to encounter. Park County, Jefferson County, Colorado State Patrol, FBI, CBI and anyone else that I may not have mentioned.
Last but certainly not least, the school faculty that evacuated the over 700 student and faculty to saftey and maintaining a coordinated effort to keep the safety of the children their number one priority.
Thankyou all
BTW... to the sick coward that took an innocent life, you will have your judgement day!

I watched that press conference last night too, and I though the Sheriff was actually very well composed under the circumstances, and should be acclaimed for his level headed decision making in such an insane situation... He and his team managed to save 5 out of 6, and while I am certain he will be haunted by the one they could not save, they should be congratulated for all their efforts - it does not appear to me they had any choice but to go in when they did.
