I was thinking of just knocking it my fuseable links but then thought he'll why not redo the whole wiring harness.
Anyone here capable of tackling such a job or possibly referring a shop? I contacted 5-90 and will see what he says it anywhere else?

This aint exactly a hot rod, the xj has a lot of differant electronic defices. IF you find someone willing to completely re-wire your jeep, it will not be cheap. <- THATS WHY.

If youve got problems with your fusible links, fix that problem, the feed side of a car's electric system is 1% the size of the job you mention. The thread you created before, you post a picture of an xj that looks factory-new. I know it sounds cool and all, but if your rich and willing to pay someone for the days of labor involved, SAY SO. Otherwise, it just looks like your all talk.

Re-wiring a modern vehicle aint easy, and considering you dont even list what year xj yours is... GOOD LUCK.....

Damn autocorrect on this phone.
The other thread was of a guy in his garage restoring an mj. He did it all himself..he did an outstanding job. He used a zj fuse block and wired it all.

My jeeps a 1987. I thought about a whole rewire cause my gauges are screwy and I think it's the headlight switches fault. I've seen a few list rewires are around 500-750 and I would say that's fair..but those were older cars, probably carb and all. Maybe I should just have someone go through and check out all the wiring and replace/fix issue areas? It's all factory currently. Nothing's been added or anything outside of a cb.

And I'm sorry but your reply sounds like your on the offensive? If I've offended you in anyway I'm sorry. But no I'm not rich, I'm like any other guy. I've got my own bills and family to support. My assumption was a rewire would cost some around 500-1000 tops, maybe I was wrong?

Not offensive, sorry if it came out that way.

But yeah, paying $500-1000 is out of my budget, so thats why i say just fix your fusible links.

Your 87 is a renix.... which is a horribly ugly wiring wise.

I recently spent a month re-wired my renix from scratch, and it got to the point where i said **** it, and just installed a H.O. harness/column/motor accessories. Whenever you do something of this scale, unless you are ultra obsessive, you are only introducing more potential problems.

Its not easy, i guess my frustration re-wiring my own jeep leaked out. And yes, wiring a carbuerated hot rod can be done in a day, with pre-made wiring kits... these wont work on EFI vehicles, especially jeeps loaded with accessories, 4 doors worth of locks, power windows, dome light sensors, and speakers.

There is a LOT of shit in there, i pulled 10 pounds of wiring, at least.

Ya i must of took that wrong. no worries brother. and im happy to say I've got a full manual jeep, windows, locks, mirrors ect. I like it that way for simplicity. I think ill either talk with jeeperjohn or the other John 5-90 about the smaller portion and see if they can just skim over the rest and make sure it's all well.

Somethings screwing my dash up currently, only my volt & oil pressure gauge come on. And I don't have a dome light & no dimming adjustability at all. And when I turn the dimmer knob my volt and oil pressure gauge fall to 0. No rpm or turn signal or bright display..nothing. Idk what's up which is the reason behind this thread lol.

You could buy a Painless brand wiring harness. It would not be custom fit though unless they happen to have a harness for the cherokee. You would still be looking at several days' labor to remove the old wiring and install the new harness. I think you are far better off to have someone fix the existing issues. I would suggest replacing the fusible links with some maxi fuses and find the current draw that took out the fusible links.

I totally agree
Painless makes great wiring harness, I have installed several in Muscle Cars. Who knows if they make them for newer vehicles.
Its a Renix, refresh all grounds, fix the fusible links and save your money for the next issue down the road.

I run 5-90s full gouge ground kit with a 150a and fuse. Gt the kit with the added 2 grounds as well..me and Jon spoke and will see what we can work out.
