Heh! I once worked for a guy who had a rotty as a yard dog at a machine shop.

I got a brand new motorcycle ('85 Ninja 600), and parked it in the yard one day.

At the end of my shift I went out and the bike no longer had any turn signals.

The dog was crapping plastic for days!

Damn dogs. The only dogs i like are German Shepards, they actualy do what you tell them.
Much better than that peice of meat up there.

That's not a dog. I'm not sure what it is but it's no dog.
IMO, every other dog is darwin's F up'd experiment of a Lab.

Lab is the only true dog.

I read that it's a desease that dogs can get. It causes the muscles to grow out of proportion and the organs can't handle it. It causes the dog to live only a short time.

Ok...there is no way that is a dog. What the hell is it?

A lot of these guys that own these weapons and by weapons I mean pit-bulls. Anyway they strength train their dogs and build their muscles just like you would. I knew a guy that had a trailer for his dog and the dog would pull him and his wife on 5 or 6 mile walks daily. He would brag that his pit-bull could pull a Honda and after seeing the dog in person I believed it. I also never went back to his house again.

I don't see this topic much on this forum but when it does pop up, it's always sure to sensationalize.

German Shepherds are the ONLY canine that can be trained?? I'd say that's a sad a$$ indicator of the quality/aptitude of the owner.

A "Pitbull" is a weapon?? I've owned many different breeds and while the Bully breeds do posess a stronger jaw, I considered any of my dogs a danger and a good way to lose my house as a result of irrespponsible ownership. It might be more appropriate to say that any canine is a liability.

Also...I might call BS on that pic sequence. The link doesn't say anything about what happened. The fact the pics of the car are very clear and the one of the dog is grainy as fawk is intriguing. It is possible though for any dog (particularly a Bully) to become unhealthily fixated on on object be it a toy or a rock. My dogs will tear up a log but only after I tell them it's ok to do so. Wait....they must be part GS huh EPA? :D

I have little experience with pt-bulls so I’m not familiar their natural temperaments. I will say that there are misconceptions surrounding the breed. Most are very loyal pets and by loyal I mean loyal. Maybe more so than some other breeds. This is where the idiot owner comes in and the dog becomes a weapon IMO

That's a fair statement to make. I know plenty of idiots that shouldn't own a Yorkie let alone a Bully breed or even a damn plant. I would agree that undesirables are more attracted to the breed b/c of it's persona. Personally, I was initially attracted to them b/c of the challeneges they represented with society and for the fact that they paralelled the challenges I see with my day to day job. I don't think a dog is something to be taken lightly. That's why I make damn sure that both of mine are extremely good representations of what the breed is capable of under the right circumstances.

I also need to edit/change my original post from "owning several different breeds" to "working with/rehabilitating/rescuing" but the list still includes Pugs, Labs, American Pitbull Terriers, English Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, German Shepherds, Rottweillers, Belgian Malmoits, to the good old Mutt.

I don't care what anyone says a pit is as much a weapon as a rifle or a hand grenade. They were bread to do one thing, to be a fighting dog. The same way a Blue Heeler was bread to be a cow herder, if you never let that Heeler see a cow or work a ranch he would still have a herding instinct. I know a lot of owners say that their pitbulls are loveable and loyal and that might be true but they could also revert to their orgianal instinct at anytime.
