Pinion Angle w/ 5.5"?

I am going to be replacing all the balljoints with adjustable ones to correct the castor. I need to know what degree the pinion should be at for no vibes and longest life. I have adj. CAs so adjusting it is not a problem. Do I just measure the CV and match that Or split the difference between the CV and the T-case? If that even makes any sence. Basically I need to get the pinion degreed before i have it aligned to see how much off set I need. I dont have any vibes now but just want to do it right.

Dont even waist your time or money on these.First off they are only available as 1 set(I think uppers) so they move the axles off centerline putting stress on the splines/carrier.Second you really dont gain much in respect to what you would really need.

So the pinion angle should be equal of the drive shaft right?

RCP Phx- I think they are available for both upper and lowers. So if the degrees are matched they should keep the axle centered. I have to check to make sure they come in the right amount of offset.

Early years (as mentioned in the tech write-up at http://www.madxj.com) have a sleeved lower ball joint, and you may be able to find offset joints for it.

Later years (my 94 for instance) only has fixed lowers available.

Additional stress on the diff? Yes, the axle will move off center. And by less than the play in the joint.

2 degree offsets certainly helped the vibrations in mine with a 4-5" lift.

Yes on the front where axle wrap is not a problem, on the rear when using a cv style on a XJ it is best to leave the pinion about 1 to 2 degrees down because of axle wrap (leaf springs)
