I'm doing some work on the back of my XJ (chop and dovetail) and am going to do LED tail lights in the process.

I'm looking for some pictures of different configurations of the lights since I can't decide what I want to do.

Singel red oval with a round white, slanted dual ovals with round white, round red, amber, white .... Give me some ideas.

Thanks.

That's an interesting layout. I don't think I've seen that yet.

Burton,
If I were thinking of going light boxes, I'd pick yours up. But my plan is a chop and dove tail, then to recess the LEDs in a smoothed out panel in the rear bodywork (does that make sense?)...

I'm thinking an vertical oval at the rear like Exxon showed, then I don't know what yet for reverse and turn signal. I might just use a flood light for reverse behind the fuel tank. I am also planning on putting some up high horizontally at the B Pillar of the cage (kind of like the KOH / desert race trucks) to replace the 3rd brake light I took out with the tailgate.

Here's what the Jeep looks like right now... Not for the faint of heart. All of the cuts are just rough cuts right now. I will still need to go back an clean up and smooth out all of the edges.

After the Dovetail, the rear will be about 48" wide. About where the ends of the 2x4 crossmember / bumper sticks out to. (ignore the sheet metal sticking out past it, it will get cut back.

Thanks for the pics. Anyone else got some good inspiration?

I hate to post up to a pic request, since it is 'not allowed' but...
...this isn't a silly request like 'white jeep on 33s'

it seems like you have a legitimate thread going here.

JCR upper 1/4 guards with the light boxes.

I ran the Farmboy boxes for a while too. The problem with the Farmboy boxes for me was that the swingarm on the bumper pretty much covered up the turn signal on the passanger side. It's much more visible with the JCR setup. No problem seeing it at all now.

I will have pretty much the same setup as Hale but with 97+ tail light boxes. Geez Hale, My spindle is Huge compared to yours! :D

Thats my only complaint too. I just never got a tire carrier! I though about switching them over to STT but then I would have this blank slot...

I'd think the problem lay with the bumper design, not with the light boxes. Since pretty much all XJs have tail lights, anyone who would make a bumper that covers any part of the tail lights (and there are several), is making a flawed bumper, IMO.

Back on topic, I wish someone was still making the Farmermatt design. Those are the best I've ever seen.
