keep in mind. . .regearing it will get you better mpg. and i say thats not a bad deal if he built it right. you deffinently save money in the long run by buying an already modified rig.

I think the gearing will wind up being a bigger issue than i first thought. Assuming i can get a "deal" on it, i'm still going to have to spend $500 for gears and X installing them (a R&P install isn't something i want to try). I doubt i can get each set installed for under $250...that would push it to $1,000 (assuming there's nothing broken or anything else needing to be replaced once a mechanic gets in there). He mentioned that he didn't regear because he didn't want to spend anymore money on the D30/C8.25. I'm wondering what else he didn't feel like doing. There's probably an i told you so in order .

It's nice to be proud of what you've done, but there's no getting around the fact that you can buy a built rig a heck of a lot cheaper than you can build one yourself, and save yourself a bunch of time and labor. You do it how you want, but if I had the chance to buy what I wanted from someone who already had a good start on it for a lot less money than it would cost me to do it, I'd jump all over it...........and then laugh at comments like yours.

Of course, I can't buy one like I would want it built.........but it would be nice.
