Saturday I spent the day in southern Indiana with Samaritans Purse cleaning up after an ef4 tornado went through. As I said before, I thought I knew what to expect. As soon as we drove past the first major destruction, the entire van went silent.
The SP disaster recovery unit #5.
It was super foggy so I thought this was a neat picture.
Driving the windy road to our work site, here is some of the destruction we seen. Some places had just minor roof damage, some places had major damage, some places were just gone!
There was a really nice barn here!
The pick up truck had a tree fall on it. The trailer probably was tossed, but that steel is super strong, the tossing nature that the trailer was tossed in, the steel on the front tongue destroyed the metal.
Panoramic photo, the pick up truck was actually parked about 20 feet in front of that big truck further up in the photo. Truck was tossed about 450 feet.
This truck was in really good shape, not a dent on it and very clean before the tornado.
The tornado basically destroyed were I was, but across the valley, this barn had very little damage.
The land were we where was a big farm with cattle. Most of the cattle made it through the storm, but to get the cattle back to the farm land, the land needed to be checked for anything that could harm the cows.
Farm debris (barns & fences) and home metal debris.
This truck had a trailer attached to it and was driven to the house (because it had a basement) minutes before the tornado hit. The tornado flipped the truck (1.5 ton truck) and totaled it.
This Jeep was also driven over just before the storm hit (keys still in the ignition).
