Parting out '99 2wd XJ

Looks like a pretty basic 2 wheel drive model, manual windows & locks, no gauges (just idiot lights). 4.0 with either a bad head gasket or a cracked head. AW4 auto works fine. 29 spline 8.25" rear axle. Seats aren't horrible, would be good for a beater or trail rig. Great headliner with built-in sound bar in the back. Interior WREAKS of cigarettes. :puke: 275,000 miles (guy drove it +/- 80 miles round trip every day to work). Header panel, grille and passenger side front fender all damaged. I imagine the header panel could be fixed if you're up for that challenge. Shoot me a PM if you're interested in anything. I figured I'd put it up for my NAXJA family to pick over before putting it on CL.

I'll check it out and let you know.

Just a side note to everyone; I (along with many other paying members, I believe) give better prices to paying NAXJA members than forum users, so join up and take advantage if you're just lurking! :patriot:

If the console latch isn't broken I'll take that too.

Bah, no big deal. Mine isn't broken, just looking for spares when I can. I do still want that light though (If the switch isn't crispy black.)

how much for the hood if paint is in good condition? ever come to to my neck of the woods?

Just in case anyone is interested, the XJ does run and drive. No smoke, no noises, transmission shifts as it should. My mechanic friend said it just boils the coolant out when it gets up to temperature. He's my go-to guy when something stumps me, so he knows his stuff and has seen this on the later 4.0's several times so I trust his diagnosis. I personally haven't run it long enough to get it hot; only enough to drive it onto and off my trailer, and down the street through my neighborhood to test the tranny. It hasn't been taken apart to determine if it's just the head gasket, or a cracked head. If anyone is interested in buying the whole thing before I start taking it apart, let me know. Pretty sure I'm going to keep the radio, speakers & seat covers. All the rest goes as shown in the pictures. Just throwing that on the table in case someone wants to make it easy on me :)

Andy that rear light is good. It operates the lights like it should. I don't know what switch you're talking about that would be "crispy black". Care to elaborate if I need to investigate it further?

$5 on it and it's yours

You can push on the lens and it will turn the lights on and off in the rear. The switch (button) inside of the light fixture is bad about melting. The one in my Jeep melted in the off position so when I open my hatch the interior lights don't come on. You should be able to easily see whether it's melted or not by looking at the back of the light fixture.

If it works like it's supposed to, I'll take it.
