Painting Engine Parts Black

For all of this physics and such, is the bottom line really going to be effected that much? If one was to go nuts and paint everything the got hot flat black and drove 200 miles, would there be that noticeble of a difference (+/-) for it to be worth it? Lets remeber that its just a 4.0L, and its not a race car going for a land speed record. I think the guy just wants his engine to be shinny black to match the outside. I wouldnt think for a guy driving a cherokee around that it would really matter too much. Grab a can of your favorite color, and go crazy!!

If it's any consolation...

I think that the thickness of the paint coating, the forumlation (brand) of
the paint, and a dozen other factors would all cause more of a difference
than the color chosen!

Black would be the champion because it's easiest to get a thin coat with.

As for the question of "should I bake the paint"... I think that the 4.0
will do a nice job of that all by itself!!

A lot of the reason Im doing it is just so the engine looks decent. I dont care about it matching the outside. Youre probably right though Denlip the 4.0 will bake it pretty well I'd imagine.
