'93 grand cherokee laredo, 4.0L i6, automatic, 231J npg transaxle.. I have a two pin (female) connector that comes out of the same bundle of wires where the starter wires are. It's under a foot long and i can find no matching connector that could reach it to plug in to it.. or any connector anywhere near it for that matter. Any ideas what this could be? thanks!

This is an XJ forum... you have a ZJ. Just fyi ;)

My bet, however, is:
* oil pressure sensor?
* one of the pressure switches for the A/C system. Look for sensors on the A/C lines and receiver/dryer.
* oil level sensor maybe? I'm not too familiar with ZJ options.

I don't know what year it started but I have noticed that the factory uses ONE body harness regardless of how the vehicle was optioned, at least this is the case on my 98 XJ.
Is this connector "orphaned" after you did some work, or did you just look under there and find it?
Could be that this is a connector for a feature your rig doesn't have...

Ding ding! Yes its for an oil level sensor that you don't have on your model. I had that same connector on my base model 93 ZJ just tied up in the wiring harness. This ZJ didn't have electric windows or locks, and had the 3" wide rubber strips on the side like the XJ, instead of huge plastic trimmings.

Another thing it could be... if it's not that oil level sensor. Could be the cable for the passenger front ABS sensor.

(trying to picture the engine bay on my friend's '96 ZJ right now)

I'm gonna go with you on this one.. :laugh: there's just no where for it to go. Thanks to you and the others who replied.. i'll just tape it up. And look for a WJ forum. :confused1 Thanks again!

1984 was when that started, with the introduction of the XJ..
