On friday I joined the masses that are unemployed.

Prayer works here. Hope it works out on Monday.

People are driving a lot fewer miles these days, so even repair work and body work has slowed down. I've been amazed at how slow our body shop is compared to normal. You wouldn't think the number of accidents would go down that much, and the subsequent insurance repairs, but they have really dropped.
we're feeling it too, in the parts buisness. i think alot more people are running thier cars into the ground lately, because with all the technology packed into them now they become far too expensive to fix. couple that with the dealers hurting for profits and offering 0% for the first 2 years loans and no money down type of deals, and people would sooner trade in thier broken down car for a new one than bother fixing it. time for me to switch careers :dunno:

good luck Ted, ya know im pullin for ya bro

Sorry to hear about that Ted. I will break out the incense and chicken feathers for you.
:roflmao:
John, thanks for starting my day off with a good chuckle.

You know I never did pay much attention to the big indicators, seems like in the past it was a lot of politics and big schemes, and that the real working people were doing just fine.

Latley it seems, especially the last 6 months or so, and almost on a dailly basis, that I hear of something that brings this whole economy issue closer to home. When I start hearing of good, honest and hardworking people start to struggle it is scary and it sucks.

Best of luck in your interview Monday. Hopefully all goes well and a new and better opportunity will be had.

Good luck on Monday Ted I know you'll do fine.

I'm worried what the slowdown will do to my industry come next summer; if we're not making money they'll cut some of the full-time camp staff.

Prayer sent Best of luck with the inteview. My brother found himself in the same sinking ship & all they keep talking about every 1/4 around here is Rif's & more Rif's. Got to keep that Heavenly Hot Line open.

Hang in there

Rob

Nervous at his new job, Ted wondered if he knew all the right things to say to the customers. After a while, he got the hang of it, though.

"Do you want cheese on that, sir", he asked with all the smile he could muster.

Hehe no really, dude, best of luck man!

That's just mean! Funny....but mean. =)

Good luck with that interview today, bud!

Not sure if anyone has any aircraft mx qualifications, but there are some jobs up here.

http://www.thingamajob.com/ds2.aspx

There don't seem to be any jobs there that pay much. I got out of aviation partly because the pay does not match the responsibility. It cost alot of money to get A&P/ IA certified but the pay is generally lackluster in the field.

I think you can do it at the local JC for a couple grand or less...

Agreed, unless you can get in a good company like FedEx, which can be very hard to do. I hear that their A&P's make $35+ an hour. I worked my way up to $19/hr working smallish turboprops like Dash-8s, which as John says, is not really enough compensation considering that your butt is on the line every time some idiot pilot flies his plane into the side of a mountain.

So now I do QA work for a small software company, and make less than I did as an A&P. At least nobody's bereaved widow is going to sue me if the software crashes.

I'm not sure, my buddy who got me the interview said that they really do need someone. And the mngr said to come in right away, went in with my app filled out and my driving record print out, and he basicly said your a great candidate for the position because of your experiance, just plug you in and there will be no training nessacary. Then hes like let me figure out what were going to do exactly, and then ill give you a hollar by the end of the week.

The problem is I interviewed with the same guy befor i started at garden grove, and he gave me the run around, the interview could not have gone more flawless, sent me for a piss test the same day, they gave me the run around for a few weeks, and then stoped returning calls. So I don't know what to really expect.

I have an app to fill out, my sisters good friend from back in the day is a high up in hvac so he said he would give me a letter of reccomendation which will have good pull, and that my experiance in a tehcnical feild will have good pull rather then someone that doesn't know anything about anyting. He says he loves his job, and he was a mechanic befor same like me so we will definitly see. Possibly its time for me to cut my losses, and change feilds, besides it has killed my love of working on cars being a tech. I have learned enough to take care of my own cars and trucks from now on. And i have a good bit of tools. So time to cut losses? We will see which direct the good Lord has for me...

peace
ted

thanks again yall:cheers:
