Anyone here use the OLD MAN EMU 2" susp.? I need to know if I will need longer shocks, brake lines. What about an SYE? Will the pinion angle need to change, or lower the T-CASE? Any info would be great from the all knowing JEEP GEEKS. Thanks Scott

I'm using the 2" HD leafs and the OME934 ZJ coil springs, with no armor/bumpers etc I ended up at around 3.5".

If you want it to perform like it should, get longer shocks, and YJ brake lines. On a 96 or later you probably will need an SYE or shims or both, lowering the TC is a bandaid and should be avoided. On a 95 or before, you might need an SYE or shims or both but it's not as likely.

The 1.5" OME lift that I am removing from my '99 came with a 1/2" TC drop, but no extended brake lines are required. The same lift is found on the quadratec website, which shows a good list of parts, including shocks. leafs, and coils and allows use of 30" tires.

An SYE should not be necessary for anything under 3.5" of lift, depending on the net result of your driveshaft angle, which can be correctly cheaply by the TC drop and/or shims. (My first XJ with the 3.5" netted about 5" of lift, and I used a 1" TC drop. Tolerable vibes and no loss of trail performance).

I write this wondering if that is the same lift you are referring to. What tire size does your OME lift allow you to run?

I am running the 2in OME lift and love it HD springs in the front and MD in the rear. However I have changed some things on it. I have 1in spacer up front and 1in JKS shackle in the rear, total lift is about 3.5 in but has settled to about 3in. To address the length of travel i have JKS BPE up front, have yet to address the rear but have yet to encounter any problems (OME shocks). I still have tcase drop in, however once I go to an 8.8 rear end i will also be doing a SYE and will be able to make sure the pinon is set correct. As for rubbing I have glassworks fenders up front so no issue there. However the rear I still need to trim more since I am running a 33in tire. All in all I have been super happy with the OME product.

I'm running the OME 2" kit on my 2000xj with new springs all around and OME shocks. I'm getting some light vibes on heavy acceleration but nothing on the highway. Looking to go up to 3" when money and time allows. Absolutely love the ride and the way it looks.

(Laugh my ass off) Yeah OKCHEROKEE. Guess I'm not a JEEP GEEK yet, just a dumb a$$. lol. 94 XJ-SE 4.0L AW4 bogus reverse arch springs, ya know the poor mans lowering kit.

Well, the first step is admitting you have a problem! :D :roflmao:

Well ya'll know the budget way. Can only afford a peice at a time. OME 2" HD leafs, bushings, u-bolts. Next week new coils. Then shocks. Then a weekend to do it all. Gotta start somewhere. Thanks for all the info, kinda figured it but just wanted to confirm.

I have the OME HD springs with OME shocks, netted about 2.5in lift. I am currently running 31in tires.

Buy RocknXJ's OME kit. It will give you a big jump on the mods and get rid of the lowering kit at a good price. 94 shouldn't need one with that OME but be prepared for an SYE, a hack and tap with a reversed frt driveshaft can be completed for <$200. You'll need to reposition the front brakelines, that only consists of removing a bolt and drilling a new hole. After you install the sway bar quik-discos then you'll need longer brake lines, get the YJ w/ABS lines.

My HD OME kit rides hard unless I have some weight in the back, then it rides really nice.

What part of NOR*CAL?

I'm not a Jeep Geek when it comes to the technical stuff.....I just know a lot of what my wife refers to as "useless info" about cars and trucks.

:D

I'm actually in somewhat of the same boat that you are....with tax time and a new home buyer "refund" coming, the lift is coming as soon as the money does!

Best of luck!

Thanks people. Boatwrench I'm in Mendo. county. Ever hear of it:) Plymatt, saw your rig on another thread, nice looking heep. Tulsa eh OKCHEROKEE? Was in OKC for a few years. Flat as hell! Tulsa area is much nicer. Good fishing all over.
