Official Unoficial Sierra Chapter Snow Wheeling, Jan 2

Reinstall my t-case and cross member, refill my transmission, bolt the front suspension back up, cut and patch the bottom of the the driver door, reinstall some weather stripping and interior panels, and reinstall the seats.

I'd like to shoot a little paint (or I'll have to remove all the weather stripping again) and mount and plumb the compressor (or I won't have a front locker).

I did just find out that I'll have all day on 1/1/10 to work on it, but that's cutting it pretty close.

Sounds like an hour or two of work to me:D

that is quite a list..:wierd: Are you doing writeups too? I'm stressing over welding in some shackle mounts for the rear bumper and installing a CB.. My plan B is to ghetto mount some tow hooks to the stock bumper mounts and cut holes for access.. either way, I'm mobile.. Good luck with that list..

If you are welding shackle mounts to only the bumper, that is not a tow point. Either find a hitch at a junkyard or buy one. Both are better than welding to the stock bumper.

Snow report

Hi, got back from Mormon a few hours ago.

There in not much snow to stuck in ON the road and it is well-packed, a tow truck was able to get everywhere. If you wanted to get stuck, you'd have to go on some of the side roads, they are covered by fresh snow.

As we were leaving, snow kept falling.
Right now, stock guys would have a lot of fun.

Andrey

Sorry for the confusion.. I'm not welding anything to the stock bumper. The weld through mounts are for my new/used one which is 2x6, 3/16th thick at least. its freakin heavy!!

let it snow let it snow let it snow . Know hows the rest of the song go? My girls are going nuts wanting to play in the snow . hoping its still good and not slush on the 2. I was able to get some chains and a wich with a dodge attached for recovery if needed

Man i want to head up with you guys so bad. Im still working on my bumpers so me and snow will just have to wait until Feb. Maybe we can get a later snow trip or somthing. Im bummed big time i really wanted to go on this trip, can't wait to see the pics!

Alright, so those are the people who I think posted up saying they wanted to go. If your name is on that list, please quote it and either keep yourself, or remove yourself. Those of you not on the list, please quote and add yourself.

So far it looks like 17 rigs possibly going!

Looks like there is a winter warning for the Sierras, possibly 3-6'' of fresh snow where we will be. Andrey posted up earlier that there was snow up there, so looks like we will be good. Not the 1-2' of snow I was looking for, but enough to have fun.

* TIMING: SNOW SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE IN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY EARLY FRIDAY AND INTO NEW YEARS DAY. SHOWERS SHOULD BEGIN TO TAPER OFF FRIDAY EVENING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO 8 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE ABOVE 7000 FEET. BETWEEN 6000 AND 7000 FEET... A TOTAL OF 3 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW ACCUMULATION WILL BE POSSIBLE.

I need to patch some holes in my floor and zip tie whats left of my dash back together and then Im ready to go. See you guys Saturday!

the_weirdo is out. My kids 3rd bday party is the next day and I cannot be gone for ~14 hours the day before. Hppefully we can plan another snow day in Feb or March. I was so stoked for this.

If half of the people are going to show up, CALTRANS will have to add a few more lanes to this road.

Happy new year, everybody.

well I have had NO TIME at all to make front mounts or get my new rear axle in so I am still gonna show up and just wheel the best I can and if it gets to deep I will just hitch a ride with someone...

I'm willing to do photos for everyone

Add me to the list.... if anyone in the sac area wants to meet up, ill be meeting a few people at the chevron off of 50 and hazel around 730-800am....
