**NWChapter Random Thoughts Thread***

Ive had my 03 wj overland for 3 years, had to replace an alternator last year but other than that, 0 issues. 4.7 with 160k. Has a 4 inch lift, winch, bumper, and 33 duratracs. Mpg when it was stock was around 20 highway, now its about 14 with lift and tires etc. Does good in the snow too with the limited slip front and rear.

My sister has a lifted 4.7 wj with 230k on it. My mom has a 4.0 wj with 180k. Only have had small maintenance issues with either of them.

Keep it maintained right and itll run a long time. Im not sure they could take the neglect xjs usually get and still run as good however, lol.

wjjeep.com has everything you need to know about the rig.

As I sit here looking at all the veterans days posts I have to stop to realize. My grandfather, Uncle, 2 of my Brothers, 2 of my close friends(and there parents, and a countless amount of others in my life. Gave up everything to be a member of "OUR" armed forces. Words don't express how humbled, honored, proud, and excited I am, to call you all family. Thankyou! For all that we hold dear. You may not get it every day but My family and I Appreciate Everything. Here's to you.

I find it funny people will try and defend a warn full float kit on a 35 will be stronger than a 8.8. Now the super 35 kit I can see being possibly close but the full float kit?!? Ha!

So... is there any special trick to getting that breather elbow out on the back of the valve cover? I tried to get it out today and it just kept breaking since the plastic was so brittle. I believe the factory term is "rear crank case vent". I got a new one to put it, but wasn't in the mood to have to pull my valve cover to punch it out from the backside this evening.

So... I rednecktafied it til I can get it out

Used 242 "Full Time" for the first time today. It kicks ass on a daily driver!

The stocker handled the slick roads like it was on rails. Had the thought of swapping the old axles from the Nail Salon under it, some new BFG AT KO2's, ... :gag:

People always badmouth the 242 but its a great Tcase for bombing around in 4wd. I loved it when cruising around Lake Tahoe in the winter.

Hell... ive abused my 242, and put it thru its paces more times than i can count... only thing that took it out was full vehicle weight against a rock.... even then the internals are fine, its just the case that didnt hold up. The 242 is just as good as any 231, and can be built up just the same. Granted, I dont think you can slap a tera-2 low kit in one, but you can still do a HD chain and 6 planetary gear set in one.
