I use zipties, but I have my driveshaft off a few times a year and clean/regrease the splines every time it looks bad... a cv halfshaft grease boot strap from the parts store would work well, so would metal zipties, you can get them at home depot.
96 and later yeah. Now that I think about it there is no boot on the 95 and earlier ones. The boot is just to keep the splines lubed right? Im going to zip tie it then I can lube it as needed. Thanks for the response.![]()

As long as the boot is keeping water out and grease in, nothing else matters. Do what you gotta do.
I put a ziptie (metal or otherwise, depending on what I have around and how annoyed I am) on it as tight as I can, and never had an issue like I said. If you do it right you can just sorta push the boot back off the slip yoke when you have to pull it apart, then push it back on after, and it seems to keep the water out just fine that way.
yeah the dealer wanted like $18 each for the official straps. That nixed that idea pretty quick :laugh2:
All you day shift people make me sick... I work 11pm to 7 or 11 depending on the day
