**NWChapter Random Thoughts Thread***

If your sticking with 4.10s, find an 8.8. disc brakes already, and geares already. LSD would be cool to! If you can find one.

8.8 or Dana 44 would be my vote

I looked and looked for a 44 for ever and couldn't find one for a reasonable price. It seamed everyone that had one thought they were plated in gold asking $400+ for what I would call a junk yard core. I didn't want to hassle with converting an 8.8 to fit, but they are tuff as hell. I chose the 8.25 29 spline. Not quite as tuff, parts are easy to come by now days and for him it's already there.

Re: Re: **NWChapter Random Thoughts Thread***

gear it and go aaron you have a 29spline. pull it in a hr. take to gear guy and wait for a phone call. reinstall in an hr. bleed brakes, drive it. with an 8.8 it will be much more of a project. not hard, just more work...

Bronze.

I thought about that, then again if I can find the right 8.8 it would be cheaper than regearing the 8.25.... Then again regearing would be less work......... See what I mean :banghead:

what about the front end? Do you already have a 4:10 Dana 30?

I say re-gear the 8.25 to 4:56.. I'm sure your planning to run 32-33" tires.. you'll love the extra power! do it once.. and be done!

Now I see why you want to switch over. When I built my 8.25 I paid $199.99 for the gear set. Install kit for $80. And labor for $150. For me it was a no brainier, but I chose 488's.

You do know the 8.25 came in Dakota trucks also half ton dodge trucks and vans. Maybe you could pull a used set of 4.10's out of one of them in a
Yard?

I agree I would go with lower then 4.10's. if I ever re-gear my Cherokee I will use 4.56 with 31's.

The freedom to drink at lunch and come back to work to screw off on NAXJA......(priceless)
