i just bought the AA slip yoke kit, minus driveshaft. i just want to know can it be done while its still connected to the trans?? and if so will it make things alot harder, i want to avoid as much work as possible, i need to take it to alinement shop this saturday, thanks seanr for the hook up

its probably a little easier on a bench but definately doable with it still on the jeep.

also is the slip yoke kit shorter? so should i measure the driveshaft after i install it or can i do it now?

I just recently put one on my TJ (same TC) and I did it with the case still under the Jeep. I am not going to say that it was fun, at all. But, it is pretty easy to do if you have the right tools. You will need measure after becuase it will make the drive shaft shorter than stock.

Same, same. I planned on taking mine out but it was more of a bear to take it out than to just do it in place. I used an adjustable creeper and found it pretty easy laying on my back. Hell, I might have even dosed off a time or two!

do i have to drain the fluid out first, and also what kind of fluid should i use, right now i have royal purple in my engine and trans , i dont think they make TC fluid

I'd drain it first unless you want a huge splash if fluid when you break the seal.

The t'case uses ATF. Same as the trans, just fill until it runs out the fill plug (top one).

I would highly recommend putting a bigger lift on your jeep before attempting the sye. this way you can sit your butt on the floor to do the install. if you do this you wont be as likely to spill your beer cuz it's real hard to drink while laying on your back. just use your head, this is all easy stuff to think out. :)

sounds like you could use 44 inch boggers.

Do not even attempt installing the SYE without LOCK ring pliars. NOT SNAP ring pliars.

i dont know, i still want alot of flex so maybe 33's or 34's

Lots of flex doesn't mean performance. A properly bumpstopped rig with the right tires for the lift will out perform your insane lift in almost every situation. Your COG is horrible, and can be dangerous. There is no need to run that much lift with 32s. What's your steering like? OTK I would hope.

yes i have otk, and bigger drop pitman arm, and hyrdro assit.hehe, oh by the way its a bitch just getting the snap ring out, i dont have propper tools, the one next to the roller bearings, i get it closed and once im about to pull out, i blow it, and it goes back inside, haha, im gonna try some more, if i cant get it, ill finish it off 2morrow...

alright i got passed that. things should not do before doing anything with transfer cases.
smoke:smoker:, and then diven into a rebuild, i took the housing off the transfer case which holds the oil pump and i broke one of the tabs, will this be an issue?, also i need to take apart transfer case, does anyone have pics of where to pull it apart from?

undo all of the case bolts around the outside.
Then if you look under the RTV mess on the edges you'll find two indentations cast into the case halves. One on each side. Stick a screwdriver in the indentations and twist, the case will pop apart. Don't go prying anywhere on the mating surface though, unless you like gobs of RTV to seal it back up.
