best thing to do, let it ride, don't over-react.
things have a way of working themselves out.
don't try to plan too much too soon.

We're like a pack of wolves. You need to realize
where you stand in the pecking order.

ok so back to actull XJ talk. I ordered my kit, which you guys know...the RE6130. im planning on going with DPG and High Angle Drivelines for my SYE/CV for the rear DS, the question now is do i need to mess with my front DS at all and what degree shims should i order so that i can get my rear diff. pointed at the right angle, and what is better steel or aluminum and just for refreance im going to be rockin the RE 4.5 kit and i have the NP231 TC and a Chrylser 8.25 in the rear. thanks tim.

P.S its all good with the rookie crap, I can take it. :)

P.P.S i hope this isnt a dupe thred. i have one kinda like it just relating to the front DS on the Modified Tech thred. but this thred is a bit more involved. i hope its ok.

Toker, while we welcome you with open arms, same as everyone, there are 2 things that MUST be done to truly be "One of Us".

1. JOIN NAXJA
2. Show up to an event, and more importantly, the campfire.
3. Swear an oath of assistance to you MWC brothers, and then follow thru, Usually before asking for help on your own rig. :D

Since when are vices measured in tonnage?

sry that was a booboo, its a 5 1/2 inch vise not ton....idk what i was thinking. but reguardless its a B****

I'm not a MWC but I'll help you out on the shim. To figure out the correct shim you'll need need to calculate you driveshaft angles after you install the lift. Install the rear leaf springs measure all the angles. This website should help.
http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/Driveline-101.shtml#Double-Cardan-Measurements

Do the calculations and you'll know what shim you need. Order the correct shim and a couple of longer center pins too if you need them. Remove the u-bolts and install the shim correctly in the bottom of the leaf pack.

For me using the RE 4.5" spring, a shackle that provided 1" additional lift, and a SYE conversion with a custom CV driveshaft the shim I needed was 4 degrees. Having done more than a few I know it sounds like a PITA to figure out. Having to mock up the rear measuring angles and all to get it right. If you do it right you should not have any vibes at any speed. Bad vibes can drive you crazy if it's your DD. Good luck installing the lift. Nothing a friend, a 12 pack and a weekend can't solve. Be sure to RTFM on the lift from RE before drinking too much of the beer.

Did you use a cheater bar on the handle to get more leverage? I made that mistake once, and it cost me my vice. Now, if I do use one, it's only a very short cheater.

Make sure you've cleaned up the yokes real good, removing any burrs and crap from the cap facings in the yokes. Also, check to make sure you've not tweaked the yokes causing them to be misaligned. It should never take that much pressure to push the caps in. Remember, if it goes in real hard, it's even harder getting it out. Taking the time to find your problem is the best policy.

(Note: I know this is not tech, so please accept my apology Rev.)

It sounds like I live pretty close - Chicago (Irving Park & Austin) and I would like to lend a hand just for the experience. I haven't worked on cars that much, have done some.
But I would love the opportunity to work with some guys who know what they are doing so, I can go home and install my RE BB that has been sitting around my apartment the last 5 months.
