Do you have the lift?

after re-reading his post several times, here is what I gathered

1. he does not have the lift yet, he ordered it though

2. he doesn't know how to lift a jeep and has no one to help him

3. his brother is a great mechanic and is getting married but might not have the time.

4. his brother will probably be in attendance when the lift is installed

5. Tim needs an extra set of hands because his brother who is a great mechanic and will be there is worthless.

6. this dude has smoked himself retarded.

7. oh yeah, they have air tools

I'm confused though, is he just lifting the rear 4.5" and leaving the front alone?

OK... I've been chatting with the kid.... Cut him some slack, he's actually dyslexic, really!

I was going to help him out... (yes, I know that's scarry to some)

Yeah..it is. In the future Tim it is considered "bad form" to post the same thing in two threads, however, as you are new, and looking for help...I will let this thread remain as the "looking for help" thread, and let the other one serve as a "knowledge" thread. If the Mod tech mod wants to dump that one..fine, but this one is safe.

When are you doing this?

You know Dennis,

The kid is young, all excited, everyone including his Dad on his case about wasting his money and fu*king up his XJ. People like Tim NEED guys like us to give him good information and guide him right (perhaps I should shut up then)

Let's get him off to a good start, at least he is getting good equipment from the beginning. Ordered his kit from Jeepin Outfitters, He's PB'n the rig twice a day, every day. He's going to get a real SYE and DS and do it all together the right way.

I'll run up to Mt Prospect for a NEWB wrenchfest. Hell, I might even volunteer my garage for the kid. (his is only a one car, no heat (if needed)
Anyone else want to get this guy off to a good start and make sure his Dad doesn't beat him too severely??

In order to "request" a Wrenchfest...

It is my "opinion" that certain criteria must be met...

You Must offer beer and food...

You Must be willing to do most if not all the dirty work...

You Must be willing to help someone else out if they need it...

You Must be willing to endure serious yet harmless harrassement the entire time...

I have limited advice to give ya, limited tools, and a huge driveway you can use but my free time will be tight in the coming weeks...

Luck to ya.

Good group of guys here... Just don't be impatient or demanding...

Oh... and by all means... Don't have the crew work on your lift for 2 weekends straight then bitch about losing a socket or two.

:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Give as much notice as you can, allot of us have almost no free time, and more notice lets us plan. If I am free, I will help.

x2

One more thing,

There are inside jokes, that you don't know. Accept it, learn to deal with it.

And, your threads here may get hijacked, don't get all whiny about it. Its part of life.

Most folks do a pretty good job with the Warm and Fuzzy treatment here :flipoff:
We all started somewhere, and I did see in the other thread that you were reading the install instructions- Good!

The "Smoked himself retarded" comment was likely a result of your typing style and your handle. Most folks here are old school. We like to see caps where caps should be, grammar which is at least 2nd grade level, and 4th grade spelling; we don't check handwriting ;) List behavior seems to be somewhere between preschool and kindergarden, so expect most anything ;)

If you get pitty help, I wouldn't turn it down; it's better than no help ;)
