I'm in the market for a little commuter car. Civic, accord, etc. Budget is 3000. I know I'm not going to get a perfect ride. I just want something decent that runs good. I've been all over cl and haven't really found much. If anyone has or know someone that has a decent car please let me know. I trust that ill get pointed in the right direction here rather than get screwed by a cl deal.

Found my jeep on Craigslist.

Only took about 3 months of wading thru all the bs and liars to find it. So basically I'm just saying that if your patient and TRUST NO ONE you'll eventually find something worth buying. Or like in the case of my last car (94 legend) you'll get lucky and get one the first thing you check out haha. Man I loved that car

Good luck man happy hunting

If you can find a decent 96-99 Honda civic that hasnt been riced out, i'd get that. They get decent gas mileage and can be had for your budget. Also, super easy to work on.

The VX/CX/HX of those years are the most gas freindly. Before that are the 92-95 body styles (EG) and even way before that is the 88-91 ( EF ).

I just picked up a 2000 Saturn Station Wagon for 1700 bucks.
36 MPG
There are dozens out there for under 3000 just make sure what ever you buy has a recent smog in hand.

i'd look into a toyota. Hondas seem to fetch more money, but toyotas are just as reliable and i've found them to be a better value. i picked up a 92 toyota paseo for $1300 with working AC and all ive done is changed the oil, put a set of tires on it and installed a head unit and its been very reliable. i see 30 mpg with just city driving. you would want to look into a paseo, tercel, corolla, maybe even a camry. with 3k you should be able to do much better than a Paseo though lol

chevy, pontiac, and saturn are going to give you a better bang for the buck than jap crap. especially pontiac or saturn since they dont make them anymore so people get scared off. Most newer ones use the chevy ecotec 4cyl motor which is better IMO than anything Honda or Toyota has put out recently. There's a reason they're used in most class 10 cars, including one i know of at a toyota dealership that just won Parker and Las Vegas.
plus insurance will likely be cheaper since they aren't stolen as often.
